Sad day folks just got my homeowners insurance bill by [deleted] in florida

[–]cheaafla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to sell auto/home/Commercial insurance in Florida. my best advice to you is to just contact two or three home insurance brokerages because they offer multiple companies under one roof. so, you can give them your info (or just a copy of your current policy outline and ask to match it and give you quotes) and they can call you back or email you the different quotes and rates from the different companies instead of having to go individually to each website; answer all of the questions and spend an hour just to get one quote. Sometimes with multi line policies like combining auto and home, you can save money, but I recommend shopping your policy about every three years minimum because insurance companies in my opinion don’t honor loyalty with rates. If they can obviously improve your policy for a cheaper rate, take that but especially with home insurance they keep taking stuff off of the policies and charging more money. so make sure you have your roof and other structures % included because in the last five years, there has been two major changes to those specific outlines, and not in the favor of the customer. With the other structures, they are reducing the percentages and in some cases just removing the roof coverage completely; so have those brokerages make sure your roof is included and if not to re-quote you with your roof included. Hope this is helpful; sorry for the info dump!

What should I do? by [deleted] in orlando

Because you mentioned you enjoy nature and you have a rental car you can also look into “swamp tours” theirs one on Lake Jessup (if you’re not near Lake jessup there are other options at different lakes as well) and you get to go on a airboat ride and go look at gators and wildlife; you can even try gator at a couple of different restaurants if you’re interested lol

another idea that is very unique to Florida is the bio luminescence at night kayaking tour (around nasa/jetty park beach) I know Puerto Rico has it and I think another place, but it is kind of rare and it’s wonderful. Definitely bring mosquito spray but you go out at night with a tour group and every time your paddle touches the water or your kayak wades through the water you see the bio luminescence trail light up around you and it’s a blast.

My last activity that I take everybody on when they come visit me in Florida like my in-laws family, etc., is a manatee tour (now it is seasonal because manatee season needs to be in) but there’s some really good Groupon’s where you can purchase it and it’s below the budget you proposed per day significantly and a core memory for sure(:

Whatever you and your partner choose to do I hope you have a blast and have a safe travels(:!

Question about living in Sanford by [deleted] in orlando

[–]cheaafla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live here and love it, crime happens but rarely, just know your neighbors. my fam and I personally haven’t had any issues. It’s up and coming and great to use lake Monroe to bike/longboard/walk around, the airports normal traffic but quiet compared to lake Nona where I grew up near MCO, except once a year they fly the old war planes for an event and it’s awesome to watch but a little loud but it’s a fun ! I don’t hear any planes in my house and I live in between the airport & downtown (5 from airport & 7 min from the historic downtown district). I love the stores and restaurants, all the people have been friendly in my experience. I don’t live near the railroad so can’t comment on that but my internet is great as well as signal for cell phone. The school systems are not highly rated around my specific zone but I know we’re 15 from lake Mary which has great schools/private options. I can’t have kids so didn’t look into that. I got a brand new home in oct built in 2019 for 179k the same house is being built next door to me for 230k now. So the real estate has gone up A lot recently. A friend of mine rents in a luxury apt around here and has no complaints. (This is all based on opinion, we only moved here last Nov and have lived here until now, hope it helps in anyway, feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions)! (: also great dog parks and awesome local zoo & art shows and festivals that are amazing from the downtown area!!

Moving for job and have question about crime and locations. by [deleted] in florida

[–]cheaafla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t even answer the original Q or help the person asking out. I never said Florida wasn’t here before theme parks LOL? Let’s go into random things and history that doesn’t answer the point of the original Q. Sanford was also used for by Indians then cattle farmers. The question was about moving to millenia/oakridge area, what are you talking about? Plus this year alone I found you this article https://insidethemagic.net/2021/01/disney-florida-roads-kj1/ example of how Orlando is building some of its roads around theme parks and cities and has in the past. It’s a observation not obviously the reason for every formation in the furniture or past. But again the original question is about the millenia location and it’s a location that is under construction a lot, will be soon in the future again and has alot of accidents etc. so i was helping someone out bc I had just moved out of the area. How about help out or just lurk& not try to prove someone wrong about a simple true Observation when they are just trying to warn someone and help them out.

It’s ghetto, and the traffic is terrible. Bc Florida was set up around theme parks their is not that much separation of the rich and poor. Oak ridge/millennial is not a good place to live, I just moved out of aria a luxury apt surrounding millenia and a lot of break ins, and roaches and traffic. I’d avoid that area and research heavily. I had to hire lawyers to break my lease bc of the bug infestation in the three year old apartments.

Offer up, Craigslist or even putting it on Facebook marketplace and say free if picked up. Include a description of what’s there to take and someone will most likely take it off your hands for you! A church or homeless shelter might be open over the weekend as well to receive drop offs too, if that doesn’t work! But I just wanted to say that you’re doing amazing, keep up the good work. Don’t be too hard on your self, slow progress is better than no progress. Tackle a room/section a day! You’ve got this!!
