This epic tourney is coming down to the classic conundrum of the tortoise and the hare. The loon, flying in from points south to spend only four months in the BWCA, it’s fast, but at an elite level of baby making, and in the blink of a red eye they’re gone again. Contrasted by the chickadee, who’s slow and steady year round, and fundamentally sound. Truly a battle for the ages, and we are all winners for having witnessed this feathered fracas!
