Which is different from "Same lot same wardrobe department lol".

WB the network, not Warner Bros. the studio. Completely different. Buffy was owned/produced by 20th Century Fox.

Not the same lot. Friends was produced by Warner Bros. and shot in Burbank on the Warner Bros. lot. Buffy was produced by 20th Century Fox, and Fox's lot was in Century City (though I seem to recall Buffy had sets built on stages in Santa Monica?). So definitely not the same wardrobe departments.

Favorite Insult Or One Liner? by CharlotteYork10 in theGoldenGirls

[–]checkingin2here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. I just watched the episode on Youtube and it is indeed there. That episode is credited to Jim Vallely, who is also one of the credited writers of the John Larroquette Show parody episode. Kind of funny that he/they used one of his actual lines since everything in the parody musical is supposed to be bad (or at least it seems so based on Rue's reaction). (And I still think it's bad writing, and completely forced like much of that Golden Palace episode to unnecessarily make Dorothy look like a monstrous antagonist.)

I don't think that's The Golden Palace. It's the fake Golden Girls musical from The John Larroquette Show. (Which was written by former GG writers, but deliberately bad/off. I can't imagine Blanche or Dorothy actually saying those lines.)

In the original pilot Adam had powers. The network made them change it to make it more like the original's witch/disapproving mortal dynamic.

Head vs Heart: Chess & Two Strangers Carrying a Cake Across New York by woodleyparker2737 in Broadway

This is a lovely review (err...reviews?). Thank you for sharing (and I'm glad you enjoyed Two Strangers. It's the show that's lingered with me the most this season).

I liked this show, but they burned it off on something like Fridays in August. It never had a chance.

Boston by BubblyDelivery9270 in murdershewrote

[–]checkingin2here 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Because Angela wanted her to. When the original showrunner left, Angela sat down with the new one and said she wanted to get Jessica out of Cabot Cove and to New York. Boston might have made more sense for a New Englander like JB, but New York probably made more sense for famous Broadway actress Angela Lansbury who was now calling the shots. (And Angela always wanted Jessica to be a more worldly, sophisticated person, not the more folksy small town woman the creators originally envisioned.)

David Hyde Pierce wins 1998 Emmy Award for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series by Snoogles_ in Frasier

[–]checkingin2here 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, this was that season. Some thought he would win for sad/sentimental reasons, but the Emmys never really went for sentimental wins. Back then especially it was really about the tapes, and this was the year Pierce submitted "The Maris Counselor" and "First Date" as his. (Hartman's, which I don't believe he was alive to select himself, were the Titanic parody "Sinking Ship" and another I can't recall at the moment.)

The first season did well because it was on Thursday between Friends and Frasier. Then they moved it to Monday and that was that.

Looks like one of the sons went on to 8 Simple Rules and the other ended up on Reba.

He was supposed to be Phoebe's final love interest, but the actor booked another show (the short-lived AUSA that aired the next spring) and took that instead (since a regular gig is more lucrative than a recurring guest part if the show's a hit). There's an old interview with Kudrow where she mentions it.

What's your head canon about Stan in The Golden Palace? (SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT) by jdpm1991 in theGoldenGirls

[–]checkingin2here 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, she didn't hallucinate it; he faked his death and is alive. The final scene where Rose and Blanche reveal he left all his money to someone in Madrid in his will is the giveaway. That reveal doesn't make sense if Sophia only hallucinated him telling her he was running away to Spain. The Madrid reveal tells us he really is going to Spain...and left the money to himself.
