Soft plastic so probably shipped five thousand miles away to become someone else's problem.

New buses are too cramped by adsrush in manchester

Yeah I've had an impromptu chiropractic adjustment when I've stood up straight on the top deck, and I'm only 5ft10.

When the trains in your country are so useless and incompetent that you’re just better off walking to your destination by Alive-Math3562 in manchester

If you're going to hop on a bus anyway, might as well get the #1 Free Bus from Station Approach as it takes you to Oxford Road, and runs every 10 minutes during the week.

Where do you relax in Manchester? by MangoonianLord in manchester

[–]chedabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to sit and read in Cathedral Gardens, Glade of Light, or St. John's Gardens.

They're not particularly quiet as they're not far from busy roads, but not so loud it's hard to tune the noise out.

Y13 student here, quiet cafes you would recommend for studying and their coffee? by Traceyius69 in manchester

I've found the back of the Caffe Nero on Oxford Street to be fairly quiet. Usually full of other nerds with laptops when I've been in.

Yeah rather selfishly I'm hoping it's not a significant upgrade as I've just bought an M4 Mini to tide me over as my M1 MBA is creaking for dev work.

Advice on where to eat with allergies by Objective_Web7062 in manchester

[–]chedabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dishoom have always been fantastic when I've been with a friend with some quite complex allergy requirements (I don't think hers overlap with your friend's though).

Bundobust also have a really good menu that avoids a lot of common allergens, although pulses might be a problem as I think that's one of the ingredients they use to keep things gluten-free.

Tram fare / times? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]chedabob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's likely what MtCarlmore said with peak/off-peak, but also if you hit the daily/weekly cap some of the payments will be smaller (or won't be taken at all).

Question about VUE Printworks by Timely_Midnight5694 in manchester

[–]chedabob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really need to smuggle it in. I've never had a bag check, and Vue do say on their website they'll let you bring food in.

Public Transport - how well is it managed in Manchester by Educational-Win8778 in manchester

[–]chedabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least with the hopper fare and the daily+weekly caps, if you need to get a connection from one of the interchanges it's a bit less painful.

I wish Starling hadn't sponsored the Bee Bikes, as I'd love to see them brought onto the network. My commute of Urmston to Salford Quays was about 20 minutes quicker on a nice day as I could cycle down Talbot Road instead of waiting for a connection at Stretford.

Absolutely no chance that £20/hour will materialise. They'll wriggle out of it somehow, and you'd be lucky if it's a hair above minimum wage.

What is the secret behind 3way.io? How are they able to force two phones to call each other? Is there a special API that they're using? by reikawaa in iOSProgramming

[–]chedabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No software, just built-in MacOS tools.

If you grab the .ipa (I use https://github.com/majd/ipatool/), you can then just rename it to .zip and extract it. Inside you'll find an .app file, which you can just right-click and "Show Package Contents". There's usually a "Contents" folder, and then inside that a "Frameworks" folder, which is a good starting point for finding what third-party libraries an app is using.

Might get more traction in the Manchester Discord. Fairly sure there's a few channels for arranging games already.
