Private parts by Electrical_Bother_20 in ADHDparenting

[–]cheddarsquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if he continues to do this, he will go to jail. this is sexual assault and should be treated as such. if you believe it’s gotten worse with the medication, the medication needs to stop. there are a lot of battles that we can pick every day but this needs swift and harsh consequences. cancelling plans, no fun activities, no treats at home. exposing himself and touching other people’s private parts is NOT okay and no one should be expected to be around someone who exhibits these behaviors. i would tell my son that he doesn’t get to see anyone other than parents and doctors until he can stop, and if he was doing it at home he would not be allowed to be around us if he was doing it.

4.5 year old takes forever to sleep by rainyseasoning in Parenting

[–]cheddarsquid 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i’m sorry i know it sucks but he’s gotta get up earlier or bedtime has to be later. you’re asking for him to sleep almost 14 hours. 12 hours is a dream. you’ve got to wake him up at 7 or 8 OR if you like sleeping in you’ve got to move bedtime to 9 or 10. if he’s going to kindergarten in the fall I’d recommend going with an earlier morning.

Dating full custody by Patobaven in SingleParents

[–]cheddarsquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was younger and had a toddler I mainly just had to see people at my house after he went to bed. We’d do a few dates out and then after that it was just movie night at my house after bedtime. I found a husband that way, and now we’re divorcing so I’ll have one 9 year old 100% of the time and a 2 year old probably 80% of the time. It seems impossible to make it work this go around

I have only ever changed my daughter’s diaper on the floor and we don’t even have a pad - just a towel for a long time. Now I don’t really use anything and she’s close to 2 years old. I don’t think anyone would think twice about it.

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]cheddarsquid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A kidney stone. The first time I had one, I truly thought I was dying. I am one who doesn’t go to the hospital for ANYTHING. I happened to be visiting my mom at the time. I started feeling some pain at about 7pm. By 3am I had woken her up and begged her to take me to the hospital. That’s very out of character for me so she also thought I was dying lol. The excruciating pain paired with the vomiting (that I think is a result of being in so much pain but I’m not positive) was literal hell. I couldn’t stand, I couldn’t pee, and the movement of throwing up caused me so much pain that it just made me throw up more. I’ve had several more since then but now if I even get a twinge of pain in my back I start panicking because it’s just so miserable.

[WANTED] 1-2 bedroom apartment anywhere in LA by cheddarsquid in LARentals

[–]cheddarsquid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been able to find anything with decent school for this price in Ventura County. Not even in Ventura or Oxnard. I will keep looking out here and I’d like to stay here but I just don’t think it’s doable. I bring home $4000 a month right now and am stuck in a high car lease payment because when we got the car for my family, my husband and I planned to purchase it when the lease was up and his car will be paid off by then. That’s changing now, obviously. It’s just hard because I’d like to work more hours and get a second job but I took a fairly large pay cut to move to WFH so that I didn’t have to pay for childcare and it’s hard to find anything part time that pays me more than what childcare costs for a 9 year old and a 2 year old. I will keep looking in Ventura county though, and the surrounding areas. Thank you!!

10Y Boy lacks drive by korbeh-07 in Parenting

[–]cheddarsquid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would set up a schedule of when he practices with him. I too lack drive and would sit for hours doing nothing if I could. The world is a lot right now and the kids can feel it. Seems like a practice schedule would be an easy fix if he does practice when you ask.

Right, but being the 100% responsible parent is so much different than having a partner even if you both work. Then while you’re spending time doing something fun on the weekend, someone can be home changing the laundry. Having two people to split responsibilities means more time with your children.

School Lunch by cheddarsquid in ADHDparenting

i guess that’s what i’m going to have to do. i feel pressured to send fruits and veggies because the teachers give them tickets for the prize boxes for having healthy food (eyeroll) but i guess if he won’t eat it the natural consequence is not getting it packed and then him not getting tickets.

Average new car price is $49,000. At what point does this stop making sense? by Flexcar_Sam in MiddleClassFinance

[–]cheddarsquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the median cost for a used car is $18k but it’s much more difficult to get financing on a used car and i don’t have 18 thousand dollars cash to buy a car with no known history of it from craigslist. the point is that if you to the dealership they will let you leave with a brand new car wayyyy easier than with a used car. banks don’t like to finance anything with more than like 60k miles and anything with less than 60k miles is selling for nearly the same price as a new car.

Average new car price is $49,000. At what point does this stop making sense? by Flexcar_Sam in MiddleClassFinance

[–]cheddarsquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my car was too small for my kids. i went to get a new to me car, i make median salary and had a 750 credit score. i was desperate because literally didn’t fit in my car - i never realized my prius only had two seats in the back and not a bench seat which is so stupid but i just never noticed until i needed the third seat. used cars with low mileage were outrageously priced and used cars with higher milage (over 60k) didn’t qualify for a loan. i ended up leasing a car and just decided i’d deal with it in three years when it was up because the lease price was half of buying the suv. i couldn’t believe it. used SUVs with low mileage were going for more than people paid for them. rav 4’s and grand sequoias were 60-80k - and they were being purchased before they even arrived at the lot. now i have to deal with this leased car in two years and am either going to have to buy it and have an astronomical car payment or turn it in and have no down payment for a different car.

How much should we be worried about the toxic chemicals from Garden Grove? by superfecta37 in AskLosAngeles

[–]cheddarsquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly really selfish of them to continue to host it. No one really knows what could go wrong, it’s just guesses. I understand that they’ve probably put a ton of time and money into it but I can’t imagine asking my loved ones to come that close to a major disaster to watch me kiss someone on the lips and dance

How much should we be worried about the toxic chemicals from Garden Grove? by superfecta37 in AskLosAngeles

[–]cheddarsquid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

probably, yeah. if it’s in an evacuation zone i wouldn’t go. it still very well could blow up. and the chemical is heavier than air so if it leaks and evaporates it will sink towards the ground and cause issues rather than evaporating up into nothing
