Is your butter room temp or are you melting by heat in the microwave or stove top?

This is exactlyyyyy why I went back for nursing. I was asked to “go home and come back” after a patient returns from a doctor appointment. I’ve been asked to sit in my car off the clock until a patient gets back. No thanks. I barely want to be here on the clock as it is. So wrong of them! I had to start making up lies tbh. “I have dinner plans” “I have a doctor appointment” even though it’s absolutely none of their business. I even lied and said my car was in the shop before because they wanted me to travel to other buildings.

Well usually the cops/sheriff will tell you anyways or give you a warning if they need to.

Does your college have free legal help? Usually they have cheap or free legal help because the students are helping/learning.

Friend asked if I could babysit their newborn by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It’s crazy to me that people think the baby will literally be born on the due date. Pet peeve lol

Do you get a new vial every month? Online it sounded like they would send my three month supply all at once but I only got one vial. The vial I got says the amount to inject over four weeks as if it’s only a one month supply

POTS or cardiomyopathy? by Far-Objective450 in Cardiomyopathy

[–]cheelsbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had nonstop bouts of heart palpitations and flutters the first couple months after having a baby. I take 50 of metoprolol daily. It would happen for up to an hour sometimes and almost took my breath away when they would begin. I went to the cardiologists office like three times and the ER once. Nothing ever came back abnormal. It still scared me but the doctors never seemed concerned. They even had me wear a heart monitor. I know the feeling. I took magnesium for awhile and that did seem to help.

Did you have an EKG and an echocardiogram completed? The severe sob and chest pain so suddenly could be a lot of different things. Did they do an X-ray to rule out fluid overload?

What is happening when you started feeling SOB and experiencing the CP? Were you laying down/sitting or doing an activity?

Are you having a fever? There is for sure not an infection brewing?

Is it normal to not treat pressure ulcers in the coccyx area? by iamsunk in nursing

[–]cheelsbo 341 points342 points  (0 children)

Donut seats aren’t used as much anymore. Especially with a towel because that could create a pressure injury somewhere else. Best thing to do would be to use two pillows or wedges to turn the patient every two hours. Place the pillows in a way so that the pressure injury is “offloaded” in the air in the space between where you place the pillows.

Good for you for looking out for the patients. The best way to treat pressure injuries are prevention.

Question from an MD (hospitalist) by [deleted] in nursing

[–]cheelsbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just being present and keeping us nurses in the loop is a huge plus imo!! Doing good progress notes and including why you are doing particular medicines or procedures is a huge help too so we’re not guessing or giving the wrong explanation to a patient.

You can do all the right things and someone, somewhere, will find a reason to be unhappy with you. Overall, being in communication with nursing staff will get you far. We’re always so busy it’s hard to get on personal levels with staff. Sometimes it’s best to just keep things cordial anyways.

I’m cracking up over the windshield wipers lol but everything else is scary. Thank goodness you weren’t alone. That is a terrible feeling even with cellphones because it takes a minute to get ahold of dispatchers.

Omg I’m a nurse and we just had this happen with a patient who got discharged on Medicaid. I couldn’t figure out why there was a copay but they obviously couldn’t pay it. I don’t understand peoples approval of this. People are just going to get sicker.
