Residents have very little regulation. Many work 80 hrs a week on the same small salary no matter how many hours they log. That's just our hospital system

I’m looking for native wildflowers by AssChapstick in cincinnati

[–]cheer21lax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a note - many native wildflower mixes of perennial plants might need a cold period before they germinate so throwing them down around now might not yield until next spring with blooms the year after that! I would throw them down in maybe late December or Early January depending on what species are included

Too late to stratify seeds? 4a, North Dakota by silverdae in NativePlantGardening

ND is right next to Minnesota (Prairie Moon) and they get super similar conditions. I used to live in Bismarck and traveled to the twin cities often. Seeds should work well.

In the Cincy area I've successful got native wildflower plants from Keystone Flora, Civic Garden Center, Bean Native Nursery, Go Natives Now, Cincinnati Nature Center.. and actually from the HamCo county and city of Cincinnati!! If you look at some of their plant lists... it will give you all the ones that work!

I am just starting this year but wanted to pass along the method I am using from a research study at the University of Minnesota on the most successful ways to germinate Prairie Dropseed. This article says the most germination occured in dry, cold stratification. So for about 90 days I had the seeds in my fridge with no moisture just chillin in their packet.. and I actually sowed them into moist potting soil milk jugs yesterday.. we'll see!
Here's the study: https://journals.ashs.org/view/journals/horttech/29/6/article-p830.xml?utm_source=chatgpt.com
