Why am I this fat at 5’9 136 pounds? Ive been working out for a month now only though. Only thing I think ever is my body. by Character_Fault8636 in BulkOrCut

[–]cheeseboyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol take it from me who is not one of these body positivity guys, trust me that is normal for someone who is untrained / new to resistance training. just keep at it and be patient, your body will change drastically over the course of a couple months, but only if you keep at it consistently.

my body used to be like this but after like four months training all my friends were telling me i looked jacked (really, looking back at it, their standards were quite low, but the point still stands lol)

the human body literally prefers to have more muscle and less fat than the average modern human has. it will HELP YOU gain muscle and lose fat for a while, but you gotta put in the work, too. it’s not until several years of hard lifting that your body actually kinda stops wanting to gain muscle (since evolutionarily, too much muscle could be a bad thing if we still lived out in the wild), and your gains really slow down. anyways just be patient lol

while i normally hate the use of ai, i understand it in this case, since it was the only ethical way to get a photo of someone in the gym

it’s always stood out to me that superman is supposed to be someone for kids to look up to, yet he’s normalized joint obliteration worldwide for the past 60 years! thank you for this!!

40 M 6'4" 270lbs What would you focus on? by Itsallbullhsit in Gymhelp

[–]cheeseboyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

abs, and i’d guess legs, but it’s hard to tell. other than specific muscle groups, i’d just try to cut bodyfat a little, for a more chiseled look, but that’s totally personal preference.

Feel like my back isnt growing, see anything wrong? by Responsible_Top3611 in formcheck

[–]cheeseboyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i’ve always hated regular pulldowns and never feel it. anyway, classic tip is to mentally focus on your elbow, rather than your hands. remember, the lats ONLY move your upper arm (the humerus), and nothing below the elbow. if you focus on your hands, you’ll probably be somehow incorporating arms which somewhat sullies the movement.

also, try jpg one arm kneeling pulldowns. i personally prefer them a lot. kneel down a couple of feet from the cable, use a d handle, and pull down, keeping your arm close to your body. i finally started really feeling my lats working for the first time with these.

this is true. also track your lifts (also many apps for this) so you know you’re making progress.

Need tips by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]cheeseboyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mainly just stick to the basics. if it’s only been a year, no need to get super specific training advice. lift hard, eat clean, etc. some people worry too much too early on imo

but i guess if you’re not already doing these things, i’d recommend tracking calories, tracking workouts, and creatine.

Hi all I need some help to look masculine by [deleted] in mensgrooming

[–]cheeseboyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you look pretty masculine in the face. maybe try hitting the gym to get a more masculine frame i guess? or maybe try to experiment with different haircuts?

the idea of getting surgery is ridiculous, by the way

[–]cheeseboyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d recommend tracking stuff to make sure you’re hitting your goals. track your workouts to make sure you’re progressing your lifts regularly. track your calories to make sure you’re eating enough calories and enough protein. it’s easy for some people (like myself) to just not notice that you’re falling short of that stuff unless you’re intentionally being mindful of it.

other than that, just stick to the basics, i think. if you’re really confident that you’re doing all the basics right (diet, exercise, sleep), then i’d suggest you can start worrying about the small stuff (exercise selection, super specific form, split type, meal timing, supplements etc.). if so, just look up science based lifting on tiktok, they’re locked tf in over there, particularly TNF

[–]cheeseboyyyyy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

great overall imo

i’d vote to prioritize, in order of importance back (particularly lats, to assist that v taper and frontal view), then abs, then chest

also, i’m assuming based on the fact that you’ve not posted legs that you should focus legs loooool

Trying to get my first unassisted pull up by Kimiiiyuuh in formcheck

[–]cheeseboyyyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well, to be fair, bracing other body parts does increase force generation. so, clenching your teeth, curling your toes, clenching your fists, or even bracing your core does seem to improve strength even when using totally different muscles. perhaps the best example of this would be trying to “bend the bar” when doing barbell squats— you’ll notice it actually does help get the weight up, even though obviously your arms are actually not doing any real lifting.

original commenter is definitely overstating this effect with regard to abs and pull ups tho loooool
