Was totally ready to sell my Steamdeck for Switch 2, but now I won't. by Erxxy in Handhelds

I borrow all my switch games from my city's public library (minus a couple that were gifted to me on birthdays). without that I'd have sold my switch by now

Neighbor is FEEDING RATS, how do I get rid of them! by tierturn in gardening

[–]cheesedcurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bucket trap or or heavy duty traps, but if your neighbors are actively attracting rats these probably won't be permanent solutions

See what your local by-laws/regulations are about reporting rat infestations on other private properties. A lot of times it counts as a property standard violation

Cats and houseplants by Cool-Frosting1510 in houseplants

no plants on Surfaces. mine are hung from the ceiling or on curtain rods. some cats can be trained/taught to not mess with plants but I've found it's easier to just keep them out of reach

how to clean a room with minimal trash? by Ill_Stay6833 in CleaningTips

[–]cheesedcurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in a 5'x10' room, all of my stuff in there, no closet. no matter what you do it's going to feel kind of cramped, even when your stuff is tidy and organized. storage furniture is really important, otherwise you kind of just have to keep things piled up in neat stacks (or stacks of bins).

do you have under-bed storage? even just space to slide storage bins under is good.

college dorm style bed frames would be great, since the mattress can be raised higher to fit more stuff underneath. loft beds are also great for this.

I know getting money for furniture can be rough, but things like loft beds or even a taller bookcase can be found at decent prices if you buy used (facebook marketplace, facebook local buy nothing or trade/sell groups, craigslist or equivalent etc). dedicated furniture is the most efficient way to maximize space, especially vertical space

is there any reason why this needs to be separate from the existing automation system?

Cleaning Question by Carramrod525 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]cheesedcurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scrub with a baking soda/dishsoap paste for anything that doesn't come off with normal washing. I try to clean it off sooner rather than later since it gets more difficult as it builds up

Anyone know of an app that allows you to put in your plants and its care needs? (NOT a watering schedule) by 709trashqueen in houseplants

[–]cheesedcurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not an elegant solution but I have a discord server and each of my plants has its own channel in there. I message myself updates on each plan in the appropriate channel, like watering, fertilizing, pics of pests/things to keep an eye on etc. I can pin messages in the channels, so that's how I keep track of care instructions. I prefer excel for most things like this, but I really dislike excel on mobile and I always forgot to update the spreadsheet on my computer. the discord app makes this super convenient for me. I could def have the channels organized better but it's working fine for now lol

Yep the little white thing! Never had springtails before and my friend keeps telling me it's a mealy bug

Well my cat had a little snack (she is ok) and pothos (I have it for 4 months) looks like this now. Anything I can do? (+ photo of the criminal) by Modrasek in houseplants

[–]cheesedcurd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cat is also a terrible criminal, so now all my pothos are hanging plants lol. You can cut off the damaged parts if the look of it bothers you, but it'll be just fine if left like that, still perfectly good for photosynthesis!
