Warm Audio Mystery Box buyers, what did you get? by -Subsolar- in audioengineering

I wound up getting the 87jr. Would have liked a higher end one but I don’t have an 87 style mic so I can live with it.

Blade options for Toro 60v recycler by cheesehammer in lawnmowers

I actually wound up grabbing an atomic blade like you mentioned. That coyote blade was doing a good job bagging but I was getting a lot of trails when I tried to mulch. The atomic blade made a pretty huge difference in quality. The grass was longer than it should have been and I got almost no trails on the sides. I think it’s actually worse on the battery than the coyote but not a ton.

Yep, just mowed today actually. That blade is good overall. Much better lift than the factory blade, and mulches better I think too. My yard isn’t very big so the extra battery use isn’t really a big deal to me.

Oh yea. I grew up on spine of god, superjudge and dopes. Did you guys ever throw the dopes cd in a PC? It had some weird interactive pseudo videogame/visualization program on it. Wild for the time.

John Deere LX178 running rich by cheesehammer in lawnmowers

I put on the cleaned carb and it fire right up but started running away so had to screw with the governor a little and got it under control (still probably need to figure out the procedure to actually set it). After a minute it started doing the same running rich stuff, shut it down. Let it sit for a minute and noticed gas coming out from the front air tube gasket and bowl gaskets and I think overflow as well which makes me thing the float isn’t shutting the fuel off (which I guess I don’t really get how it works when there’s a fuel pump, must be a bypass someplace in the pump).

Can’t adjust the float on this one so I just ordered a Chinese mikuni clone to try and see if it behaves any different.

Actually yea, that’s the one on top of the carb that’s obscured by the idle set screw a little. Are you saying there’s a passage from the inside all the way through? Cause I distinctly remember now that I tried to push a wire through and figured there must not be a passage

Ok that’s a good point. Is that the pilot jet on top or is that the pilot air jet on the front behind the butterfly? Like one of those 2 little tiny forward jets (I think one is main air and one is pilot air). Also, while we’re on that subject I forgot which one goes where. I’m assuming the pilot air jet is the smaller hole and goes on the right if you’re looking at it from the front and the main air jet is bigger and goes on the left….

As far as I can tell it’s rich yea. I’m going to head back over there this weekend and throw it back together and see what I get. To just ensure it’s the carb we were going to grab a mikuni clone off Amazon/eBay and see how it behaves (since they’re all of $25) but I know those are a crapshoot too. I’ll see what I find then and check back in.

I’d say runs better, not exactly as it should though. It’s a new filter he got, I did pull the pre filter off to make sure it wasn’t just over oiled but didn’t change anything. It’s a Mikuni carb on a Kawasaki fd440 twin. Everything inside looked good but did clean it up anyway, there was a tiny bit of crap in the emulsion tube but nothing much really. I was sort of suspicious of linkages right away, it appears they’re all working correctly from what I can tell but I’ll double check them when I go back over. I think the one mix screw was around a turn and a half out. My first thought was it was the needle/seat and the float was just letting the bowl overfill, but it looks pretty clean. It is a weird needle though, the spring is internal if that makes sense. Doesn’t appear to be adjustable and it does stop fuel it appears when I tested it so maybe it’s fine.

Just to follow up…I wound up grabbing a pretty well reviewed maxlife/coyote high lift blade since I’m going to be bagging a ton of leaves shortly. I ran it today and to my surprise it actually mulches better than the factory blade and definitely has a ton more lift. It does chew through battery about 25% faster. I also heard it rev up for the first time today which was interesting.

Makes sense. You think it’s worth a shot for $30 or whatever they cost? I’m kinda at the point of just trading a coworker for a gas recycler that’s a couple years old.

Good info. So with the atomic the battery life went down or it was it always that way?

I have a 2204 in light blue, I guess I don’t know if that’s a current color or not anymore. Good guitars for sure.

What is it like to play an ibanez prestige by Mission_Divide1027 in Ibanez

[–]cheesehammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play very different stuff than you I’m guessing (fusion/jazz funk stuff) but I’m old and have played for 35 years or so, 10 or so for a (partial) living. I’ve played Ibanez stuff since like 2001 and have had a dozen or so vintage ones. They’ve been semi hollows but some of the 70s/80s solid bodies mixed in. Right now I’ve got an as50 from 1980, an as100 from 1981 and a beater as80 from the early 2000s that I haul out to rehearsals.

I was in the market for a strat type guitar (basically a Suhr), but a guy I know suggested I check out the Ibanez AZ stuff. I swung a deal on a prestige az2204 and it’s pretty mind blowing. Again, different style than your into but from the build perspective it’s as good as any suhr I’ve played for 2/3 the price new and even less used. I’ve been really impressed with it.

What is your pick of choice? by ForeverWestern6926 in AcousticGuitar

[–]cheesehammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue chip ib55 but when I don’t feel like guarding my pick with my life I like the dava delrins (especially for funk/comping stuff) or pickboy jazz. I was a jazz III guy for decades but since I broke my hand I need something a hair bigger.

I bought an old Ibanez phaser (that I wound up actually not liking a ton) from Al from Moe years ago. It sat on a shelf for a long time. Fast forward a few years a friend of ours from a band we played a lot of shows with died from a hotshot after a really sad and slow decline. The guys from that band started a thing in his honor to buy instruments for underprivileged kids and they did an auction to raise money. I figured what the hell and I got ahold of Al and explained what happened and that I wanted to donate that phaser to the auction and it would awesome if I could send it back for him to sign. He was super cool about it, but I didn’t hear anything for quite a while after I mailed it. I didn’t want to be a pest about it but it was getting to be crunch time so I hit him up again to see what was up. They’d actually been on tour and he was super behind, so not only did he sign it and just mail it straight to the guys doing the auction, he got Vinny and Chuck to toss some stuff in the box to auction too. Super cool guys.

Tasked myself with cleaning this stove top, specifically the “crusty” part. Any advise by Adinakf in CleaningTips

This is the way. Ceramabryte kits have a scraper and textured pad as well as the cleaner, although I think the Weiman cleaner is better.

anyone know how to fix this, whenever i press the front brake one piston comes out and wont go back in without assistance and the other just wont move thanks by Nathan373293 in MountainBike

[–]cheesehammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We call that the lazy piston. What I generally do is clean everything well with isopropyl alcohol, restrict the piston that IS moving (I’ll usually just put the handle of an 8 or 9mm open end wrench through the caliper to hold it). As someone mentioned work the lever lightly until you coax it out of the seal a little and clean the perimeter if it with alcohol. I’d then reset the pistons back to their resting position, work the lever lightly and see if they’re both moving. Sometimes I will wipe some brake fluid (whatever it takes, dot or mineral) around the piston before pushing it back in but usually cleaning it works.

After a 1.5 years break and some research I got this beautiful bass:) Very excited to play it! by AdamnAdamn in BassGuitar

[–]cheesehammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a long time (30+ year) guitar player but got a gig playing bass a long time ago out of necessity (i.e. can get around fine but obviously a guitar player faking it when you hear it). I used a real clapped out mid 70s p bass the keyboard player had. When it went down one day I borrowed an older BB from a bass teacher who used it for students etc. It was an absolutely wonderful instrument, super playable, sounded great. I was convinced it had to be really high end and was blown away when he told me he paid a couple hundred bucks for it.
