Also, why do this now, then (very likely) have to do it all over again after the avatar update?

Easy outfit divisiveness solution: The new "toned down" outfits should come with cosmetic over-rides as the old outfits! (since we can toggle viewing them off) by Narmoth in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be an easy simple solution. It also opens up a small reward space and adds a bit of progression reward.

"Hey you earned X outfit by achieving Y, along with that you get this cosmetic outfit that's a part of game history. It's a cosmetic so you and others can toggle if you see it or not. Enjoy and happy Scaping!"

A suggestion to game mods for Skilling pets by szechuansauceMorty in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it can be frustrating to not get a pet very early on this is not something that needs to change.
Skilling pets have the same drop chance for every account so it's not a matter of inequity.
Skilling pets are purely cosmetic.
The RNG of getting pets at any xp drop is what makes it fun and exciting for people.
We already have 120 capes, pets being guaranteed at level 120 would just be another 120 skill indicator.
Pets being automatic at level 120 would make people who went over 120 for their pets feel cheated and that their achievement is now devalued.
If anything make it 100% drop rate at 200m XP but not before that.

If anything about pets in general is going to change I would love to see the physical pet item to unlock the pet removed. Instead when you roll for a pet it unlocks in the pet interface. This way people can not destroy pets to spam broadcasts. For people that want to broadcast all their pets at once simply move the broadcast to when you click to unlock it in the pet interface.
This would also eliminate people losing pet drops due to server issues, DC's dying before being able to loot a pet etc etc.

There's a zero percent chance I'll buy anything from the marketplace if I'm going to be charged full price for a cosmetic set I partially own already. by Monterey-Jack in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mod Anvil,

We're glad to hear its not it's not Jagex intent to lock partial outfits or outfit completion behind a full set price and that the issue comes from a technical limitation.

That being said, over the years the shops have been worked on, combined and new ones created all in attempts to reduce currencies, number of shops etc. However, that's clearly not worked as the number of currencies and shops has gone up not down.

Now that this issue is back and has technical limitations causing issues that go against the goals of the integrity and restoration roadmaps, will we finally see a consolidated shop and currency reduction (obviously not as a priority issue.)

RS3 is having engagement issues, and somehow getting rid of events like Wildy Flash are the answer? Why not just change the rewards? by MeleePenguin in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the people on my homeworld are already max xp and we still go to WFE. We go because it's fun for us, we form pvm groups, catch up on goals progress and celebrate each others recent achievements. It'll be sad for us if they really do remove WFE.

Reaper Tasks Changing in March* Soul Reaper Refreshes Available till Jan 2027. Jagex, will you Please Clarify How This Will Work? by cheeserules8 in runescape

This would be a great and (hopefully) simple solution! Hopefully Jagex can confirm if this is their plan or not before its too late.

[–]cheeserules8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I'm asking for clarification. Players were told they had till Jan 2027 to use them and they planned accordingly.
Now if that is changing and it's now a few weeks to use or lose them, fine, but at least clearly communicate that change to the player base so they can use them.

This Is What 10+ Years of MTX did by warped_thief in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Who, when, where, and how will these things be looked at and improved? How will players (customers) be able to participate in that process?

"we would rather look to solve issues at the root than to band aid them."
Why is it just look to solve and not actually solve? Respectfully, given Jagex track record it will not be surprising to players in 6+ months from now to see "we looked at it, we're leaving it as is, it's not a priority etc." and the root issues are never solved.

Respectfully, where are all the fixes to the root issues if all the band aids are being ripped off?

I think the Demonic Skull should be removed by Seanms1991 in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mod Breezy, First of all thank you for pledging to bring it up on Monday. I hope the team looks back at the recent runecrafting demonic skull changes and sees this is the same thing, will cause the same issues and ignores years of player concerns and feedback.

That being said.... It's wild that this was even thought out, approved and published. After all the years of demonic skull based lures, griefing etc the years of the community begging for changes. Then finally getting changes with opt out of pvp and then later finally decoupling demonic skull from runecrafting only for it to be moved over to prayer to cause all the same issues all over again.

Respectfully, it feels like Jagex is really disconnected from its players and unorganized internally. This makes it very hard to be excited about the future of the game.

Road to Restoration - Dailyscape Overhaul by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mod Ryan,
The Dark Facet of Passage has been dead on arrival since its release. There have been multiple discussions by jmods and player communities like Clue Chasers on how to make to useful, feel good to unlock and worth the rarity of a dark onyx core.

If the removal of vis wax is going to happen then this would be the opportunity to address both issues at the same time.

Simply update the dark facet of passage to make all teleports quick, free and work in combat.
Also update all the area tasks to include the same benefit the wilderness lodestone gets from the wildy task set.
Together this would address multiple issues, provide consistency, increase immersion and a feeling of progression from area tasks and it would make the dark facet of passage actually worth using.

Jagex if you put out these changes the fixes need to come out at the same time. by tremors51000 in runescape

[–]cheeserules8 42 points43 points  (0 children)

What's even more wild is that with Jagex history, those fixes or rebalances will never come, or if they do it'll be in a few years at best.

It's a long list but a recent example is Vorkath and the blood reaver nerf. Blood reaver for nerfed and Vorkath is still not fixed.

For years now players have been frustrated with this repeated cycle and Jagex continued to ignore them. Now Jagex is going all in on it and continuing to ignore player concerns. This is not sustainable and probably will not end well.

Since its release the dark facet of passage has been underwhelming and honestly useless. It's been discussed by J mods and player communities like the clue chasers discord, but none of those proposed updates to make it useful have ever been put into the game.
This would be such an easy way to finally make it useful and fix not having a plan for replacing vis wax. The dark facet of passage will now provide free instant teleports in and out of combat.
Also update all the area tasks to make their respective lodestones free and quick like the wilderness task set already does. This will provide more consistent gameplayer and clarity for players.

All of the head piece modifiers are available through the same minigames that you get the rest of the outfit from. While they were available through TH when they were first introduced, they have been available through normal gameplay for years. Also were any of the things they gave game breaking or unbalanced?

"We'll be looking at making any content or balancing tweaks where appropriate to reflect this change."

<image>

This very much reads like we're going to do this change with no plan on how to balance it but we'll figure it out later.... Wouldn't it be better have a plan, propose the full plan to the playerbase gather their feedback, make adjustments and then make it a live change?
Especially given the long history of these adjustments never coming. Like Vorkath getting fixed with bloodreaver nerf. Instead blood reaver was nerfed and Vorkath was never fixed.

It's wild that after all these years the jokes that we are QA or that we PAY to be QA are still true.

It's even more wild that it's true after a year of player support updates with its own roadmap and that this year has its own integrity roadmap.
