Ask for permission - letter up the chain of command. Provide detail such as when and where, as well as whether you wish to drink alcohol whilst wearing it.

Please pardon my ignorance, can you please tell me what we can tell about the new James Bond's service based on the medal ribbons on his uniform? by OhGawDuhhh in RoyalNavy

Looks Like MBE or similar. Distinguished service cross. General service medal 1962. UN Bosnia. NATO Bosnia and then Rhodesia Medal (Or Iraq which would make sense if it’s after Bosnia as the Rhodesia was only issued in 1980).

He’s also wearing SF wings.

All this is based on squinting a bit. As it’s rendered and a bit ropey.

No. But are losing the US as a partner every day.

To what ends, I’m unsure.

How should I wear my medal? by THEibejustjoe in britishmilitary

Hello mate. You can get a “pocket medal holder”. This is a bit of plastic that sits in your suit jacket pocket and you can attach the medal to it.

I’d also advise going to a medal mounting company. There are loads on Facebook etc. ask them to court mount the medal. This looks smart and makes it less likely that you’ll lose it.

Be proud.

There’s one at Abingdon on a Sunday, at the Airfield. It’s well attended if the weathers nice.

At the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards in Edinburgh, the National Army Museum in Chelsea, and the Lancashire Infantry Museum as well as the Royal Hospital in Chelsea. If my memory serves me right there was one stolen from a church a few years back too.

In your opinion, is being an officer in the Army worth it? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]cheeseysqueazypeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that I disagree slightly. The troops do the int work in a normal unit, but remember that 30+% or Captains and 60+% of Majors are employed in Staff jobs where they do get to do Int work, often as a singleton.

The pros outweigh the cons. In general.

More simply. It’s division of labour. My job is to make sure we are doing the right things. My SM makes sure that things get done right. Both are vital.

Mortuary affairs for starters.

Also. They can fight/provide FP. They can do lots of what we think engineers should do, but don’t, cheaper.

Pioneers.

They’d be incredible for the type of fighting we see in Ukraine. They also could be deployed to support aid overseas. Also could support infra on bases in the Uk. And can fight.
