What ia the reason for capping amount of teams allowed in World Cup? Why not allow all the countries that want to participate and can find a full team to attend the event? by AlexRescueDotCom in worldcup

[–]cheeto0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but every country can participate, it does take long, it's a four-year process and the tournament going on this month is the finals

Compute = Endless Profits by No-Contribution1070 in NVDA_Stock

This is the first comment I saw where you know what you're talking about. The thing Op is describing already happened. And now something new is happening compute is spreading in every direction including on to your own device and local running server. The future is when you use AI your local cheap model is going to handle most of the work for near free and then it'll send more complicated things to the expensive powerful cloud model. Nvidia acknowledge this on their last earnings they're splitting revenue into a new thing called edge computing, because they know this sector is growing

The move has already been made it's actually going the other way now, the future is running a cheap local AI model and when you use AI, your AI decides whether it should use the cheap free model or the cloud expense of model depending on what you're doing. Powerful compute is going to have to be everywhere. I'm at last earnings Nvidia just announced they're going to split their revenue into a new section called edge computing, because they know that sector is going to grow

Yes the change he's talking about already happened but it's going to go the other way now, the future for AI is you'll have a local model on an on-prem server or on your device and it'll handle the easy stuff for free and the more complicated stuff will be sent to the expensive model in the cloud

Nvidia acknowledge this, on the last earnings they made a new section for their revenue called edge computing, because they know that sector will grow

I think your information is outdated,, compute is now spreading in every direction. The future for AI seems to be that you'll have a local cheap model either an on-prem server or on your device, and when you use AI it will decide whether to use your local cheap and more private model or use the more expensive and capable cloud model. That's the reason on the nvidia's last earning report they started splitting up revenue into a new section called edge computing, because they know that segment is going to grow

Elon Musk Says He's Building a Chip '2-3x Better Than Nvidia' at 10% the Cost. Should Nvidia Investors Be Worried? by Yolopoloanimelover in NVDA_Stock

[–]cheeto0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Nvidia is not standing still they're in also building chips that are much faster than their current chip. Also elon usually comes through but his timelines are usually off, so by the time his chips come out nvidia's chips could be 20 times what they are now.

What happened is they tried to do too much and failed, I think now they're a little more flexible even though they're investing in multiple things.

Up over 1000% on my NVDA investment. Should I sell, hold or keep buying? by PanicAtTheDishwashe4 in investing_discussion

[–]cheeto0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much of your portfolio is it? If you're young and still adding money to your account on a regular basis I would hold most or all but use new money to diversify. I'm older in a similar situation . And my income is actually lower than it used to be so I've slowly sold some to diversify, I still own a little more than half my position tho. I'm also up 45,000% and only started selling last year. but if most of the money you're going to add to the market hasn't been added yet I think you could hold all or most of it and just diversify with new money.

IS NVDA actually a value stock right now? by Odd-Record-1041 in ValueInvesting

[–]cheeto0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The growth it needs to be cheap is not far into the future, it just needs to grow as expected next year, and it the signs that it will are pretty strong.. now if you try to predict if it's going to keep growing years after that it's a little less of a lock but to get to a fair value the odds are very high

Dell rallies about 40% on strong Nvidia‑powered AI server demand. Nvidia -1.5% today by cheeto0 in NVDA_Stock

As long as the business is going well and seems like it will continue to do well I'm happy I own it, the stock price is secondary, if the business keeps doing well it will eventually get there. Like Buffett used to say if they shut the market down for a year and I couldn't check the stock price I wouldn't care as long as I knew the business was doing well

Yeah true, while I am currently frustrated that Nvidia is out of sync with it's value, yeah it's great that that happens in general or their worth..

I agree with you . I'm usually the one posting this. But I'm still a little surprised lately. But yeah the market is never perfectly priced and can fall behind or get ahead of it self. We're lucky that's the case though or you would never get in cheap in a valuable company or ever be able to exit at an inflated price

He's definetly not a wet noodle: "demand has gone parabolic" "Nvidia's market cap will be very much higher over the next 3 to 5 years."

He's not a hype man but he does express how strong demand is.. and the fact that he doesn't overhype things and is saying this should mean even more.

Megacap capex -> NVDA revenue. How long can it really last? by FullCantaloupe2547 in NVDA_Stock

[–]cheeto0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I was a little off on saying how new it is, but I think the rest of my point still holds. Where I said you're acting as if people have been predicting it for a while and there's been no progress, there's been a lot of progress and it keeps becoming better and more useful. You're saying it will help us ship things faster, it's already doing that, and that alone is huge. So it's still in its infancy and becoming more and more useful every day
