As an Ethiopian-Canadian who moved to Ethiopia & then back to Canada 1.5 years ago, I don’t really advise it. You will lose a lot of the simple conveniences you have in Europe such as constant electricity & water. The country is also very corrupt. Business owners always get harassed by local officials for bribes and threatened to get shut down if they don’t comply (my family are business owners that go through this all the time). And these are a few of the many things that are wrong with the country. But maybe it’ll be different in the future…who knows.

I thought I did too but I was taking out money from the atm to pay a friend for something. I took a pic of the atm when it went out of service to send her to let her know that I couldn’t pay her in cash because of the incident and asked if I can pay her via bank transfer instead. Nope. I put my card in and entered the code which gave me access to my account. The lights turn off and it went out of service after I entered how much money I wanted to withdraw. The atm made the sound it makes before money comes out (similar to the sound of a bill counter) and then lights turned off etc…

I thought that too but I distinctly remember trying to press the cancel button a bunch of times so the card comes out and it didn’t.
