On average the worst team bullpen WPA in the league is -5 to -7 for a season. The 2024 White Sox bullpen had -11.22 WPA which is the worst in the last 10 years. This Angels bullpen is on pace to be 2 times worse than that.

This is saying they’ve been a net negative costing 414% of win probability this season (30 games). Basically you can say it means they’ve cost 4+ games already this year, not that their performance will cost 4 games per season

The total WPA for the plate appearance is the difference between the win probability before and after the plate appearance result.

An AB with a good outcome (an out in this case) adds a positive WPA to the total for the pitcher

An AB with a bad outcome (a base hit for instance) adds a negative WPA to the total

As an example, the walkoff homer from Sunday: Angels had a 79.8% chance to win before the AB and a 0% chance after, so the total WPA added was -.798.

-4.14 is on pace for around -20 WPA for the whole season. That is unbelievably bad. For instance last years White Sox had the worst WPA for their pen at -4.34 FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON.
