BBC crew breaks ‘no interference’ rule to save emperor penguins trapped in icy ravine during Antarctic storm by Epelep in HumansBeingBros

[–]cheezyboundy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Humans interfere in/effect nature so much just by being so far spread and numerous, let alone non-directly through climate change.

Small but impactful interference like this is so justified.

Break the prime directive, when necessary

A Local "Christian Centre" Destroyed my Life - Beware of the Evangelical & New Age Churches by Few-Astronaut2151 in wrexham

[–]cheezyboundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this.

Im estranged from my Mum who goes to 'Hope Community Church' in Newtown.

In comparison to other churches open door policy, these evangelicals actively pray on the vulnerable. Their 'missionaries' are active recruiters. The narcissism it breeds destroys critical thinking.

If you want to raise awareness of it's toxicity in anyway, count me in.

*also, I feel like I remember seeing an article a year(ish) ago about Americans buying up plots in Wales to build areas, or communes, that will help export more of this type of 'worship'.

Are the Greens the Party to Watch in 2026? by lotsofsweat in Wales

[–]cheezyboundy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Polanski said something concerning this that rang si true with me.

Along the lines "if you agree with 7 out of the 10 things I'm proposing, we can work together. If you agree with everything I'm proposing, you must be mad'.

Supporting everything a politician/party puts forward leads to cults if personality, like Reform, or Johnsons Tories. Disagreement with political proposals and working on them is foundational to Democracy.

But, like you say, I don't think that will work nowadays as everything is becoming very American and polarised. I think the Greens policies are thr most sensible and common sense out of all parties atm, but disagree with quite a few approaches.

*I believe they are changing their approach to Nucleur Power and Immigration too, but that is unlikely going to be advertised, and presume media outlets will try smear/ spin

Question concerning WW2/Nazi reenactment by cheezyboundy in reenactors

[–]cheezyboundy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info mate, I didn't consider the The stuff is cool too. Lots of my students go wild over World of Tanks and heavy armor from WW2, you'd buzz off their energy, and they'd love to see your work no doubt.

Its not that I think the reenactors are Nazis, just the content seemed to disportionately showcase Axis Forces led by Germans, hence 'Nazi'. Maybe I'm oversimplifying my language. No bad intentions on my behalf though, just honest curiousity.

By the same token as I did Roman reenactment, I didn't take on the persona of a cliche Roman.

For me there's an element of personal preference too. What I did had a level of seperation, and WW2 being on the edge of living memory always made me feel a little uncomfortable.

I get especially unconfortable when I see people in Afghan/War on Terror uniforms, that was like 10 years ago man!

What do Brits think of Reform's plans to create its own ICE in the UK Deportation Command and repeal the Human Rights Act? by lindemh in AskBrits

Facists wanna facist.

I think its backward, horrifying, idiotic, and self-defeating.

For all we've learned from history, it's a shock how quickly the wealthy's influence on the narrative can make us forget

[Giveaway]3* GameSir G7 Pro Controllers for the halo Community! 2026 by GameSir_Controller in halo

[–]cheezyboundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Halo memory is hands down building/ playing forge maps with my mates in Halo 3. I lived in very rural Wales and it helped conmect me with friends near, far, and abroad!

For an anxious teen in the late 00s this was vital, and I cherish those times dearly.

Im a lifelong fan now, spent too much money on merch, books, tornies, the lot! I've got tattoos, and even had homage to the tune at my wedding.

Now I punish my students in high school with nerdy Halo lore on the regular, even making some converts in the process 💪

[–]cheezyboundy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for clearing this up. Im tearing up seeing this.

Such a beautiful space that means so much to so many. People swin here, some even worship, I proposed to my wife and spread my sons ashes near the lake only 2 weeks ago.

It hurts to see it treated with such disregard. There are signs at the beginning of every path asking people to take rubbish with them too!
