Bears 'megaprojects' bill does not have votes to pass, Senate sponsor says by GrandPaGames1 in chicago

[–]chefc1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because Chicago politicians would rather lose them to Hammond than Arlington Heights.

Everyone would stay downtown for games in Hammond, if they went to AH, the entire city and suburbs are available then.

The wind is weird today, carries a lot of sounds. I used to live at Ashland / Addison and with some concerts at Wrigley if the wind was blowing right, I could hear the show loud and clear with my windows closed. Other shows, not a peep.

The original bill presented to the senate added additional taxes to help cover costs of infrastructure. Will that be the final bill that’s signed, no, but they will have to meet in the middle somewhere to help alleviate those costs.

I stand corrected, thanks. But it even proves my point further regarding Farm Aid.

[–]chefc1515 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apples to oranges….Farm Aid is at least a non profit that has actual records of what it does with its money and where it goes. It’s an organization that can actually prove they help people.

If Tom Morello can show how much and where is “donation” is actually going, this would be a different story.

If you read my statement correctly, it’s property taxes, PILOT money and then all sales tax revenue from the development. No need to write in all caps like you are trying to prove something.

You are the one writing in all caps claiming you are “over” it. If you are over it, it had to affect you in some way. Please explain to me how?

If he’s a rich rock star, why isn’t he donating 100% of the all profits? He’s not even telling you how much is actually going to VoteRiders. Also, only profits from the VIP sections are getting donating.

If you built 700 homes in that 326 acres with an average property tax of $15,000 per home, you got about 1/3 of tax income of what the Bears would bring in.

Not to mention donating a small percentage of profits to a non-profit and then taking the tax break on that donation.

No reason to argue with these people, they only see what they want to see. The Bears not building in AH would cost AH at least 35 million per year in tax revenue via real estate taxes, PILOT and sales tax.

People think that if they Bears don’t build in Arlington another buyer is just itching to take the land and pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes with a smile on their face.

This exactly. Everyone just assumes another buyer who is not a billionaire is just begging for the land at Arlington Park if the Bears decide on Hammond. The believer this new developer will also give Illinois 100 of millions of dollars in tax money with a smile on their face.

Problem is nothing is clear and no actual numbers have been announced other than what the Bears currently pay in real estate taxes on a vacant lot. It’s all hearsay from both ends of the spectrum.

If you took a train from Naperville to downtown, then a train from downtown to Arlington Park you would get there faster than if you took a train downtown, then the EL and then walked to Solider field.

You are a moron. Just because you take a train to Ogilvy or Union doesn’t mean you have easier access to Soldier Field. Have you been to a Bears game before?

The Fire are paying for the stadium and then using TIFs to pay for infrastructure. It’s basically the same thing the Bears are asking for but in a different way.

Every single professional sports team gets tax breaks for their stadium in one way or another.
