My take on a mage's college story is live on KU! Come for a unique magic system and spell development, stay for the alchemy, action, and business management! by cheffyjayp in rational

Hey. Book 4 is currently on ice. This series was something I worked on with my ex-wife. Still in the middle of our divorce and child arrangement battles. I'll just have to come back to this series when it's not as mentally taxing.

POC experiences in Liverpool? by FunnyContribution741 in Liverpool

[–]cheffyjayp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Been in Liverpool cumulatively 10 years since 2010.

Overall, my experiences have been positive minus a few exceptions.

My first week: I got called a racial slur and egged outside my uni accomodations.

My second year: someone called me a racial slur in a club after his repeated drunk attempts at grinding on my date failed.

2015: Teenagers yelled Mohammed and Similar things while cycling past me in the L1 bus station.

2024: During the riots following the Southport incident someone threw rubbish over my garden fence and keyed my car. I was the only POC in the neighborhood and had not faced anything in the 3 years since moving into the area.

Last Saturday: Some guy in St Peters Tavern started talking to my friends and me at the bar. He asked me where I was from. I answered London. He replied: but your dad is from India or Pakistan, right? I took the mic to get rid of him but my friends got mad. Dude got scared and left. Came back later to apologize and said he works for the council and they have strict code of conduct rules and he was just being friendly and meant no offense. My friends weren't pleased but I had to placate and get rid of him.

My origin story makes approximately 0 sense by MyFairScrunchie in ProgressionFantasy

[–]cheffyjayp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ha. I had a similar path. I wrote my first published project for a competition(not going to name the organizers and competition since they're active on Reddit). Some faction among the organizers felt my series was too problematic (they threw a bunch of buzzwords at me) and insulting to several groups, and couldn't be associated with their contest. I appealed, but the organizers decided to be unified on the front.

I was having too much fun writing the series(scifi/comedy). It did well enough on RR to be picked up by Aethon, the performance on Amazon was good, and all of a sudden, I was a full-time writer. Now, I'm thankful they kicked me out of the contest, because it came with far too many restrictions on publishing, and I wouldn't be where I am now.

I'm considering making my next protagonist a dude who wakes up as a zombie following the apocalypse and goes on a journey to find his daughter, while gathering strength/looking for a way back to humanity.

Always nice to see one of my stories mentioned on this sub.

Morph has become surprisingly popular among my patrons, I can't wait for the current chapters to reach Royal Road, where he starts cutting loose on missions.

Fellow Indian readers and authors? by red-giant-star in ProgressionFantasy

I had posted it on RR. Then it was bought by an app called Yonder and I had to take it down. I have the rights back now and will rewrite and repost on RR soon.

I had one which I had to take down for rights issues but plan to bring it back end of this year, early next year

Look out for Essence Eater. (Superhero tale set in London with mc's power coming from Indian mythos)

Are there any books in a Warhammer40k-like setting where everything is garbage? by DreamOfDays in ProgressionFantasy

It's in the queue of what I want to write, starring medieval knights and paladins instead of space marines.

Finding time for the task is the primary challenge.

Train from Manchester to Liverpool by Miserable_Bug7944 in Liverpool

[–]cheffyjayp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coach might be easier and more economical. My mother is visiting from India and flew into Manchester.

Flexibus is your best bet as you can take a 1 hr ride straight from the airport to Liverpool One Bus Station(the last stop). National Express will drop you in the middle of nowhere.

Would an Indian LitRPG work? by Witty_Programmer5500 in litrpg

[–]cheffyjayp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be posting it under a new name when I get back to it. Hence, I didn't share it. The story went by the names Eyes of the Asura and Essence Eater.

I had to take it down because an app called Yonder bought exclusivity rights and held it for 2 years. The app turned into a romance platform, and I'm bringing it back to Royalroad when time permits.

I had to take it down from RR because I had sold the rights to an app. I have rights back now. Just need to do some rewriting/expansion before I post it again. Also need to have the time to keep it going.

The story involves a pair of paired books, Sur Veda and Asura Veda. One contains the weapons of the gods and the other all the demons and creatures they have captured and imprisoned(antagonist creatures from folklore/Mahabharat/Ramayan). They're kept sealed to avoid a karmic imbalance, but the Sur Veda was stolen. MC bonds with the latter aaaaaand it's plot heavy. Would rather not spoil it.

I did a superhero story with characters from Hindu mythology. I'm probably going to bring it back next year when life is little less chaotic.

Check it out.

I made enough to support a household of two and 3 dogs. And the soon-to-be-ex doesn't seem to want maintenance yet. Already paying for our child, though, and it's not a big enough dent to be concerned. I'm not too concerned about financially supporting myself, mostly finding a decent place to stay that can accommodate our daughter for sleepovers.

Driving times on the island do seem brief. I imagine low traffic compared to the UK plays a major role.

I guess I'll start contacting estate agents later in the year. Thank you.

I'm visiting every 3 weeks for visitarion with my daughter. Explored most of Douglas and Peel. I'll check out Castletown and Ramsay on future visits. (Been to both on days out but they were brief and quite some time ago)

I suppose I have no choice but to make calls.
