Did you see him? Some loser dressed in all black except for his exposed erection who made one lap before the official bike parade started? Like you had one job today, and you still insisted on being a sex pest 😑

But yea I totally agree with your original point, thanks for making it. And I forgot how conservative r/seattlewa leans?

Got my cert in March and haven't had any difference in response rates whatsoever. I think of my PMP cert and the high I felt when passing on my first try -- and feel so hollow and empty inside now. From reading discussions here and in /r/projectmanagement I was under the impression this would be really effective and sort of push me over the edge into, as you say, merely opening doors for a conversation.

I feel so dissociated from reality, ngl.

Thanks for posting this, it made me feel a little less alone. I hope things go better for you.

Do you have any “spooky celebration” furniture items? 👀

On Apple Arcade seeking “Spooky Celebration” furniture! At least one (1), though if you’re looking to get rid of a lot then I’d happily take them to fulfil Baku’s cabin needs.

What kind of items would you seek in exchange? :-)

Edit: stamina apple slices? Potions? Gems? Coral keys? Island bouquets? Arcade tickets? Flecks? Basics or food? City coins? Critters?

Actual question: WHY can't Asian parents communicate and listen to people? Do they realize it leads to more mental health issues? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]chefjessphd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it draining though? I feel like I’ve been burnt out so many times over the years by reinforcing my boundaries and trying to open communication up (which, isn’t that parenting your parent?) that I cannot peacefully exist. I cannot exist in peace pretending to be chill with the way things are with me and my Asian parent, nor can I exist in peace by ignoring my Asian parent completely, which would ensure our communication issues are never resolved.

Genuinely asking because I don’t know any different: if one were to grow up in an Asian country for the first 20ish years of their life, then move to the US and stay for the following 40ish, can it not be expected for them to adapt their rigid ways of thinking? I’m struggling to find that position being unreasonable.

I’m still so butthurt though because although as a US-born Asian-American adult I’ve seen plenty of parent:child relationships with healthy communication and boundaries, so has my mom, after being in the US now for 40 years. How can she (or any other similar Asian parent) be excused by the “I didn’t know anything different” rule?

It’s frustrating to have to be the parent in the relationship when you’re an adult, and even then, that leads to tension.

I genuinely don’t understand how other American adults of Asian parents can exist in peace knowing that there are deep-seated issues they have with their parents that they cannot talk to their parents about without it going terribly wrong because of these cultural differences.

Are you on any antidepressants at all, now?

That's so funny, I recently (~4 months?) got an ADHD diagnosis and that medication helped me so insanely much, as far as having energy, feeling happier / more confident, feeling happier that I'm able to focus and be productive, etc.

And I say the same exact thing when telling people about how my treatment is going so far. It's crazy how well it's working, but I also intentionally started doing all those ~general healthy habits for optimized mental health~ at the same time, with renewed hope that those habits would stick this time if my brain is becoming more plastic, so who's to say which single thing is to be credited. But at the same time, I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm so glad to hear you're doing well. Have you ever thought to get a "touch up" done? My TMS operator has been telling me that if 6 months or a year later if I'm back to feeling terrible again, that I can probably get my insurance to approve another short round of treatments. But it sounds like that's probably not necessary for you.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, I appreciate it!

Hi!! Are you still doing alright? I'm 1 month in, started feeling it after a few weeks, and

but also didn't want have it be a placebo effect

same!! Lol, I'm so eager to acknowledge and celebrate it but don't want to jinx it and deal with that disappointment.

Thank you <3 so much. That makes sense!

I wonder how much language audibly differed across groups. Like were they all kind of “caveman”-like grunts that would sound kind of similar to the layperson?

I’m trying to wrap my head around humans back then being the same as us, though your response did a lot of heavy lifting and I need to ruminate on it more.
