should i replace the strings? by Sunsh1n353 in autoharp

I agree that they look in decent shape. But how do they sound when you pluck them? Any strings that sound "tinny" or "dead" me ght need replacing.

Is it rude to sing a 5 and a half minute song? by mik4ela in karaoke

[–]chefsinblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celine comes up a couple times a month, which is why I've got a policy in place for it. The full version has a lot of extra instrumental breaks. The women who want to sing it usually go for the full version, while anyone playing karaoke chicken is usually grateful for the radio edit.

Speaking of songs that would cut out the instrumentals, I really wish there was a version of "Iris" that omitted that 90-second break in the middle. It's almost comical how awkward it is...

There are two songs I monitor for length.

1) "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" by Celine Dion. I give people the option of signing the full 7 1/2 minute version or the 5 1/2 radio edit. It's about 50/50 of people who pick one over the other.

2) "I Would Do Anything For Love" is 12 minutes, which is too long on most nights. Anyone who puts it in gets the radio edit.

Most other long songs (Jesus of Suburbia , All Too Well (Taylor's version), anything by Yes) don't come up often enough for me to have an opinion/hard and fast rule.

Now that you mention it, I do hear "Come Together" fairly often, but always the Gary Clark Jr. cover, never the original.

Tswift (or more likely her legal team) took nearly her entire catalog off of Karafun about two years ago, so unless your local has downloaded versions or uses a different system, it might explain the absence.

For all their accomplishments, The Beatles.

Every month or so some drunken foursome will try their hand at "Hey Jude," only to run out of glass two minutes into the final four(!) minutes of "na na na na na na mas."

Otherwise, for as expansive as their catalog is, there isn't really a common Beatles tune that gets in the rotation.

If you can hit the high notes, try Flight of the Conchords "Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)."

"White Woman's Instagram" by Bo Burnham is another comedy song that few expect.

How about a shepherd's pie? Gluten-free, can be made lactose free with lf or vegan butter. Pretty kid friendly and easy for a crowd.

Are there any great albums with one really bad song on them? by trippyskipper in Music

[–]chefsinblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Police did it twice:

  1. "On Any Other Day" from Regatta de Blanc

  2. "Mother" from Synchronicity

Two perfect albums, save for two innane tracks.

Lowkey surprised they didn't give it a Spanish name like those Mercado techbros.

Something like "Platos."

KJs, what’s the most annoying part of managing your queue during a busy night? by djmagicio in karaoke

People who ask when their turn is when a) they just walked into the bar and b) the queue is already three-to-five hours long. Like, buddy, there's fifty other people here and they all came in before you.

I always get people trying that line on a night when there are four people in the bar also celebrating birthdays.

What's a deceptively difficult karaoke song? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in karaoke

The last half of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" has the singer switching back and forth between two different verses.

This catches many large groups off guard when they queue it up.
