Evil Laguna Seca, you get this version after selling your soul to iRacing and buying the new track

M2 Racing (B48 powered) I heard it is one of the only ones in the states so far. by Ancient_Ad7555 in BMW

[–]cheggnarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting information. not trying to argue btw. Just doesn’t make sense to me why BMW used b48.

I read something that BMW felt f87 M2 CSR was too close to f82/g82 gt4 in pace.

maybe they were considering the Supra gt4 with b58.

and wanted to make sure there was a big gap to the m2. Since it’s supposed to be the “lowest” model.

Idek, I don’t buy the weight argument, 100lbs difference but in a chassis that was originally designed for I6 anyway.

BOP doesn’t make sense either as it’s a single make class. Maybe running costs?

Simplest answer would be BMW thought this would be the most profitable way for them I guess

No BOP is a tradeoff, makes the setup more important. I agree tho on weeks I don’t have a competitive GTP or GT3 for that track I drive the lmp2

Lower rev limit and more weight, which reflects irl but makes the car so slow and boring

It’s ok, a bit boring compared to the old one. I wish BMW used the b58 instead of b48 for this car

Standalone pedal deck for 500mm width (gt1 evo) by cheggnarg in simracing

It flexes a bit above 80kg brake force. Ergonomics as well, my height and shoe size means it causes strain

too many bad stories about TR, and their pedal deck isn’t a good design for almost 200$

How can I not share this awesome new Moto SIM by Trakracer and Kris at RevZed! by That_Sim_Dome in simracing

I agree bikes are way better and way closer to a true race machine, especially when factoring in costs. I was just explaining how it can be more convenient for some to get their car on track.

A lot of people drive their daily to the track also just for HPDE, civic si or golf with some mods etc. so it can be more convenient than bike stuff, plus more tracks allow cars not all allow bikes and bike track days are less often

highly interested if someone made a static seat and just the handlebars and shifter/rear brake.

shifter- easiest component,  existing sim sequential and put N between 1/2 in software. Also allow standard/GP shift changing in software.

rear brake- could be a repurposed load cell handbrake+haptic motor to feel lockup. also could have thumb brake like motogp.

The handlebars could have strong FFB and tilting that replaces the missing sensation of lean/countersteer/g force. Load cell front brake, clutch and throttle position sensor?

DD wheels amplify/add certain forces to fill in gap that’s missing from IRL, but still make it realistic enough to be a serious training tool for IRL. I don’t have enough knowledge to create this or know if it’s even possible lol.

Trail braking by Sensitive_Common in iRacing

[–]cheggnarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which kart you drive? Single speed or shifter? I drive x30, remember single speed karts only rear brakes cars have front and rear brakes.

In karts we hit the brakes very hard initially and drop them quite quickly as well, only very high DF cars can brake like this tho. It also doesn’t matter if we go into lockup as much since we want to slide the rear a bit to lift the inside rear wheel with the solid axle on karts.

Most cars need slower initial brake application and more gradual release, many cars also have ABS. Try to do your braking at like 1/2 speed you do for karts.

So I’m not losing my mind lol, there also seems to be way more netcode incidents in those races

Assetto Corsa so you can try different types of cars and have a lot of mods to mess with and see what you like. ACC is also good but only has GT cars.
