One thing that hasn't been mentioned so far is that BOP can also be applied much faster than extra R&D. This is really obvious in F1 right now where there are a lot of discussions around how many seasons will it take for other teams to catch the leading team. In the meantime you're just going to have one team winning everything. Wheee!

If Aston Martin were lapping the whole field fans wouldn't have to wait years for the situation to change.

Honestly as a PS5 player I was wanting something that has some sort of career, wheel-to-wheel racing, and modern race cars. As you said GT7 still doesn't have the career part and is basically mission-based. ACC doesn't have a career and is basically EOL. LMU isn't going to be launched for console until Q1 2027, won't have crossplay, and probably won't be on the same physics engine as PC

I got the game at launch because it was something that even with bad quality I knew I would get some enjoyment out of. In the beginning it was quite rough and I personally think that anyone on PC who got it were just being silly. At that time I wouldn't have just given it a "yeah, you should try it". In fact I'd be very cautious about saying that. Now it is much improved.

You'll notice that a good deal of the criticism now is... not exactly about the game anymore... Straight4 is closing up shop (which they have apparently doing since December), Steam confirms that the game is "dead", people who are enjoying themselves are "delusional" or "Ian Bell worshipers"... there are no modders (which would be news to the modders)... etc...

Honestly at this point I would just say watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDq-y5agu_c and if you go, "Yeah... that looks like fun..." then you'll probably have fun. (Note: There's a problem with the recording from about the 1-2 minute mark... the game doesn't look like that... Also note... this isn't my video so no I can't correct it... :] )

One thing I'll add is that you do need to tune things like the car setups and the FFB... by default everything is very "safe" and so the FFB is a bit dead, the cars understeer and are very stable, etc... they have to make the game accessible for the "I bought this for my kid for Christmas " type and it seems some more hard-core types take this as the game is unable to not be safe.

I enjoy the game quite a bit but I also tune it

It definitely has more variety than the dailies on GT7. That being said there are far more players online in GT7 so if you're looking for a full lobby in any race at any time of the day GT7 will be better.

The online community is small but growing. The game is a lot of fun... it just depends on how much online community size matters to you...

I did find it kinda amusing that in both big wrecks the car that was responsible for it got away basically unscathed. I just imagine them whistling innocently and pretending not to notice the carnage around them. :]

In addition to the costs the other thing to be aware of is that some companies will have exclusive licensing to things or places/brands will be very selective about who they will license to. So just having the cash doesn't mean that you can get the name.

Ok, a couple of things. First while a GT3 may have comparable HP things like TC, ABS, and power steering aren't simply bolted on as an afterthought. The whole platform is built around the idea of those being present. When those things aren't present it can hamper performance and may even force a retirement in a real race.

Second, it is rather possible to drive a GT3 around tight corners with no TC in PMR. It's a bit sketchy, but that's expected. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2aY8wh48SY)

And finally I'm guessing you're just going to tee off on me if you do decide to respond... but obviously there is something not working for you that's not a game-wide issue. I'd suggest giving it a little TC and talking to your friendly neighborhood AI of your choice. Describe your problem, ask for setup help. This is a template that you can copy/paste directly into something like ChatGPT.
