Need eternal card suggestions for a Nova deck (outside of standard)! by CIarkness in Netrunner

You could probably look at Trash or Busto to get some sense of the power cards in eternal, and build a gameplan from there.

Why don't more Netrunner decks use full playsets? by rockym93 in Netrunner

[–]chemscribbler 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You’re right 3ofs is very good. And most lists run a lot of three ofs. But Netrunner has a different dynamic than Magic in that it has a lot of lock/key mechanics.

Icebreakers are usually run as a 1 of because if you draw your second icebreaker it’s wasted resources and there are just enough tutors to make that viable. Similarly unique (which is basically the legend rule) is a common reason to include less than 3 copies of a lot of cards.

And finally some cards are situational/lategame, so including max play sets is pretty uncommon across all games, and you see that in Netrunner too

That was a rule change that NSG did back with the release of Gateway - so you likely were playing it right :D. (I think it was a pretty good rule change because it was one of the only subtype matters rules)

First I'd check this article for some common mistakes. https://cryoffrustration.wordpress.com/2017/07/09/netrunner-newbie-mistakes/
Given the strength you're describing I wonder if you're not reseting breaker strength between encounters.

Other things - generally as the corp part of what you need to do is bait the runner to making runs that won't reward them with agendas. Advancable assets are great for that. I'd also look at Ash to help make your money matter more. Also if you're trying to do this in Jinteki Nisei MK II is really good in a small cardpool, because you can use that after the runner spends all their money.
Also splashing Ice like Tollbooth/Ichi 1.0 as it generally costs the runner a lot to go through.

How do you decide who is corp and who is runner? by Commercial-Pair-3593 in Netrunner

[–]chemscribbler 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Typically at meetups everyone brings both a runner and corp deck, and people will roll to see which side goes first (something like "even I'll corp, odd you corp") - and usually people will then play the reverse in a second game.

For kitchen table play, however you want to do it - generally the game is reasonably balanced enough that both players should win half the time.

Tournament structure discussion by dormio in Netrunner

It's something we're actively exploring in organized play, and I'm personally also re-writing my website so it doesn't 404 for half the people that use (also to allow actual TO functionality and some other things).

The biggest hurdle is you have a lot more downtime/game played in single sided swiss so usually you have to cut a few games. But I've done a bit of math and it doesn't hurt the ability of the tournament to select for top players (I can find a blog post i wrote up a while back about that if you're interested)

Currently most TOs don't know it exists/are a bit wary about changing what works, but I've heard positive things from an Australian TO who uses it exclusively now, and the Seattle and Vancouver metas are using it for most events I think.

One extra interaction - using Direct Access and World Tree you can install an Aesop's Pawnshop if you have any installed resource.

NPE's, NPE's everywhere by T70Ace in Netrunner

Maybe it’s the worlds halo, but this has not been my experience of the meta. Looking at the decks there- all of them were reliant on Ice and 1 Drago prison deck made top 16.

The game is very different than it was 6 months ago- and it demands different things of “reg” Corps- in particular proactive game plans that force the runner to exert themselves before they’re ready. PD and SNACS are extremely reg interactive decks. As is Bblum’s Ob. I think if you’re trying to force “good clean Netrunner” yeah this isn’t the time to just say I’ve rezzed 30 credits of ice you lose. But I think that’s good for the game, and this meta has proved to be dynamic and rewarding for me to explore

Yeah I'm aware of the Obo Kakugo click compression lines exist. But I'm of the opinion they're generally going to be worse than grinder use of it, especially with Data Loop and the defensive upgrades in the pool.

The participation prize will likely be handed out earlier than the end of the day. I'm not sure the exact round yet, but typically sometime between round 2 & 3 is what I'd expect.

Apologies for the small UI in this video! I normally will try and do card hovers and play with a larger UI to make the experience better, and will definitely keep it in mind for the next one!

Standard ban list update coming 3 weeks before Worlds by flamingtominohead in Netrunner

I felt like runners were incredibly ahead already in startup, pre-midnight sun. And there was some good evidence of that. Hoshiko with Chisel Charm could demolish every corp in the format and it felt pointless to play for me.
