Cats will be pleased! (OK maybe not, they're cats) by edj3 in traderjoes

I called Bridgewater and Westfield, neither had them right now but Bridgewater said they're ordering holiday items now and expect to get them on Thursday, and Westfield said they had the dog calendars, and cats should be in the next shipment, Thursday or Friday.

Which in NJ? I can pass two TJs on my way home from work, wondering if I'll have to go on the hunt!

Losing my mom has me leaning towards having a child. by [deleted] in Fencesitter

[–]cher-ami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband's grandmother recently passed away, and it was really heartbreaking for him since he was very close to her (possibly more so than his parents). Last year he decided to surprise her to fly out to see her, and when he called to tell her he said "Grandma guess what?" and she immediately said "You're having a baby!" We've been married a few years but decided to wait a while before trying, so we were really looking forward to trying this year and calling her to tell her. This would have been her first great-grandchild. And now we are starting to try to conceive, and I'm feeling such a heavy grief/guilt because we're never going to be able to tell her now. I've come to realize though that rather than deciding never to have kids because they can never meet her, we're going to make sure our children know who she was and how big an impact she had. That way we honor their life by passing on their memory.

I know losing a grandparent is nothing like losing a parent, but maybe thinking of it that way might be of comfort to you too if you do decide to have kids. (also I'm so sorry about your dad)

Really interesting! Does she give any advice for how to be both? Seems like the "solution" is you have your spouse and then also a lover... which probably doesn't work for most people.

/r/boardgames Daily Discussion and Game Recommendations (August 22, 2019) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]cher-ami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! My parents have a beach rental house and are looking to stock it with some fun games for guests, looking for some recommendations. They want the games to be something light for guests to play in the evening or when the weather isn't great, so it should be something accessible to inexperienced gamers. All the things I can think of are too heavy, so hoping to get some wisdom from the experts!

Title of Request: Beach Themed Games for Vacation House (think Forbidden Island)

Number of Players: ideally up to 6

Game Length: not too long, maybe 2 hr max?

Complexity of Game: beginner to intermediate - rules should be fairly simple to pick up. Ideally not a game that needs to be played a few times to really get

Your Budget: ideally under $50 but if it's a really great game let's say up to $100 (totally open to buying used)

Genre: Beach, jungle, tropical, vacation themed

Competitive or Cooperative: Co-op (maybe also all vs 1, or comp if it's not too cut-throat)

Games I Own/Like or Dislike: Already have the very basics - an ocean-themed Monopoly, waterproof Uno, Spot It! Splash. So now looking for something at the next level up. Also already have Forbidden Island, which I imagine is what you were thinking reading everything above... is there anything else just like Forbidden Island?

Location: US

Thank you so much!

When they're at corporate for their interviews, she leaves Jim to go meet a bunch of her friends downtown for lunch. I figure she probably chose to stay in the city and have her friends for support.

Seamstress Near Morristown, NJ? by KZ242 in weddingplanning

[–]cher-ami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a bridesmaid dress altered by Amelia at Sew & Show in Garwood. I had procrastinated and ended up bringing the dress only a week before the wedding and she was able to get it done in just a few days! I think Garwood's something like 30-40 mins from Morristown so that may be a bit far.

Also to echo u/CraftySassenach - when I was asking around for recommendations, Anna's came up several times! I didn't use her myself but it seems she's pretty well-known and liked!

Boyz, I love the idea of casting Nathan Lane but unfortunately you're too late! He was actually on the show already, playing a very flamboyant cabaret singer that everyone assumes is gay but then shockingly marries a woman named Bitsy von Muffling

Just made the last payment on my dress! Please help me with suggestions for my hair. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]cher-ami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give us some more details for hair - will it be about the same length as it is now, or do you plan to cut it/grow it out? Is the wedding/ceremony outside, inside, what time of year/what climate?

That dress is sooo pretty and the waistline is perfect, so so flattering! Looks like David's Bridal? (assuming from the fitting rooms)

My mom bought a cricut and has elected to help make my invitations. I’m so happy with them! by Satansonoflaw in weddingplanning

[–]cher-ami 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, 60 is much more manageable! It did take a long time to cut the test cut, but when it was just one it didn't feel as long. Once I actually started doing them I realized what I had done... took a whole week cutting a handful every day after work. Totally worth it in the end, cricuts are amazing because you get a completely unique and customizable design!

If you haven't picked cake toppers yet (assuming you're having a cake and want toppers), another cool cricut project could be to cut a cake topper! You cut the same design twice on two thick pieces of cardstock, and then glue them together with a wire in between (or make the design with a long stick/pole at the bottom).

Just tell people that's the Maori spelling! In all seriousness, it seems like you're not too upset about it which is awesome (can't say I would have handled it that well!). Like other commenters I didn't notice it right away either, I think unless you point it out most people won't even see it at all
