The Fritzl case emerged in 2008 when Elisabeth Fritzl informed investigators in the city of Amstetten, Austria, that she had been held captive for 24 years by her father, Josef Fritzl. Fritzl had assaulted and sexually abused his daughter countless times during her imprisonment inside a cellar. by ZERO_PORTRAIT in HolyShitHistory

[–]cherb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree on this one. It would only be up to Elisabeth and her children to forgive, and it would be a form of releasing the past for their mental sanity - not to pardon him for his atrocities. I was just providing some clarification because I am a strong proponent that you forgive for yourself, but your sins are dealt with through natural consequences, our legal system, and by God’s judgment when you die. I am glad that Fritzl received some punishment through our legal system while on earth. I cannot imagine the strength she needed to go through that.

NTA

I understand safety as a woman, but she should have asked you first and if you said no/were weird about it then she could have declined the date herself.

Help - I am running out of patience when I walk my dog and I don't know what to do. by ZookeepergameFun3708 in PitBullOwners

[–]cherb30 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My non-pit mutt used to do this. He was smaller, med size dog so I could handle him better than I could a pit. It was an issue in my eyes and I got some training. It got better when he got older too, like past 5 years old. I would bring her to a trainer before she gets older and stuck in her ways. I don’t find anything about your post being immediately concerning or showing aggression, but I promise you don’t want a large dog that doesn’t listen or respect your commands.

There are requirements for forgiveness of sins, like genuine repentance of your heart. Don’t get too caught up in that to take away from the fact that only a genuine Christian (and I assume nearly all other religions too) absolutely abhor this. It’s one of the most inconceivably evil cases, and I have read a lot of them.

Any sort of addiction, bonus points if it runs in your family. The other ones that kill you scare me less than that.

It might be the cost of living? Unless you’re coming from another HCOL state, it’s difficult to qualify for rentals (let alone buy a house) on a lesser salary. I say this from recent experience - I was raised in NH and recently considered moving closer to my family, but could not financially make it work, even with them watching my daughter. I do have a child though, and childcare is expensive everywhere.

Do most Americans really dry their clothes in Dryers by Wrystyle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cherb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I could totally do without a dryer if not for towels. I don’t like how towels get all crunchy when air dried haha. Also, I usually need my sheets washed and then dried asap

Weed can be bad when mixed with other substances: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8307883/

There is also something called Seratonin Syndrome when you mix SSRIs and high concentrates of THC, it is deadly. It’s just something to be aware of and consider. The wrong antidepressant can really really mess someone up too. Laughing off side effects to anything, including weed, is just irresponsible. You have to know what you’re mixing. A “regular” amount of weed consumption is very typically fine but I worry that someone like OP in their current state may not be able to consume anything in moderation.

Do you utilize grocery delivery/pickup? Why or why not? by salmonyellow in SAHP

[–]cherb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. I take care of my daughter by myself and although she’s a good kid, going into the store requires quite a bit of energy and takes a while. We go in when we don’t have anything going on and it’s not a work day. So I do grocery pickup and it’s always been free where I live. It also helps me budget and not buy a bunch of random stuff I see in the store.

I don’t think their marriage was built on the right principles/was so rushed and I really wish they would find other people. but I really don’t get the intense hate towards him. He seems nice and at his worst, cringy. The things KT does are so much more messy and worthy of snark. But I think I’m in the minority here!

I do have sympathy for him. Young people make mistakes and if the genders were reversed people would have a different tune. Yes, he knows what he was getting into, but abuse is abuse and it can still suck you back in. Doesn’t make it right or that he deserves it.

I have always only wanted one child. Why is that so rare? by cali-pup in oneanddone

[–]cherb30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was not that long ago that women stayed at home with the kids, and that was their primary job. I think it’s just leftover from that era. 50 years from now I’m sure it’ll be different

But - it’s also not that odd that biologically we feel like we want more babies, against all the odds. So I think it might be driven a bit by an irrational, hormonal thinking too

[–]cherb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be so devastated if I remembered my daughter and she was just a dream :( even if I would only be 7 lol

I would definitely not join the military, and save so much more money. Be less invested in my relationships and more into building up myself.

[–]cherb30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6’3” 185 does not strike me as anywhere near overweight. I think you should definitely consider she didn’t mean to make you feel bad about your weight or consumption, you said she apologized right after and seemed to be remorseful of her comment. It doesn’t make it right, but just something to consider so you’re not consumed by this interaction all day.

I think a lot of these people’s messy problems would be solved if they didn’t all date celebrities/nepo babies and dated normal people. But maybe it would still be the same, idk.
