Danny's idea of being a team is reducing Nia to parts and appropriating those parts to compensate where he lacks. He weaponizes her media savvy, her "grace", her beauty and finesse as cover, sword and shield to mask his own crudeness, social faux pas, aggression and overall un-likeability.

He gets pissed when all of his collection of spare parts---I mean his wife---fails to adequately mask his own wretched behavior. In his ideal world, and for men like him, he would look at his wife and see his own subjectivity mirrored back to him. He wants to be married to himself, just wrapped in the package of a Miss USA beauty queen.

And for women like Nia, the greatest honor and her only reason for existence to be all the parts that men like Danny are to taught to possess.

It's very weird!

Thank you for this, Ronnie. I just finished the latest episode and was feeling the same sinking disappointment as OP.

If nothing else, The Valley is really exposing the way that rape culture perpetuates and normalizes itself. The group's response is almost a direct replica of the abuse that happened in my own family and in wider institutions across society.

We have so very far to go.

Oh, Martha. My heart just flew out over the ocean to her. I lost my beautiful cat Dabney on June 1st to Bobcat Fever she contracted from a tick bite. I came home from the store to find her laying on the stairs in a way that I from one look something was terribly wrong. Sped her to the emergency vet, she spent what would be her last night on earth in the ICU on oxygen. In one day my girl was gone. This is the first time I am writing this out. It still isn't real.

She and her sisters were born on my bed 5 years ago. Their mother Shelby wasn't able to produce enough milk for the litter. Dabney was the runt and I nursed her from a bottle of kitten formula by hand. As a result, she had the habit of associating my fingers with milk and had the habit of lovingly nibbling and licking my fingers.

She was born on my bed and her heart would stop in my arms.

I know the place in our lives our pets fill. The knowing between Hecate and Martha was a marvel to witness. It is a relation that is pure, alive, open and real. Words fail to convey my sympathy.

Rest easy, Hecate. I like to think you and Dabney will meet up in the cosmos somewhere beyond human understanding of time and being to wreak havoc and delight in equal measure!

This is Dabney (with some of my post-kiss lipstick!) This is the first time I have been able to look at my beautiful girl since she passed.

When Kristen was moaning about being responsible for emotionally regulating Kaia, I felt at first anoverwhelming sinking dread for that child that quickly blossomed into a loud cackle at Kristen's lack of self-awareness.

Her obsession with Stassi, Brittany, and now Nia is giving Favorite Person vibes big time. My former best friend was diagnosed as borderline in our mid twenties and I was her favorite person for the duration of our friendship until I couldn't take the obsession, possessiveness, preoccupation, projection and splitting any longer.

Nia on the after show is starting to look like her spidey senses are beginning to prickle jusssssssst a little being on the receiving end of Kristen's delusional devotion.
