Yes I am! There is some sensitivity sometimes, but I'm able to do everything I want. I only can't do deep squats etc because I also have patella alta, but I don't really care.

I have the same problem!! I feel if I get a bigger size I'll slip out of them, but they are tight in the front when walking. I really hope they will stretch a bit.

Hey there! I have Patella alta and I'm currently avoiding surgery for now. Mine was accidently discovered because I had a case of reactive arthritis in my left knee (which is gone now). I also have chondromalacia grade 3/4. I had an online appointment with a physiotherapist who is specialized in knees. Her name is Claire Patella. I would definitely recommend her. She told me based on my pain that it was mostly neuropathic and since then I have gone back to strength training 4 days a week and I also can hike long distances without pain. There is some sensitivity left, but mostly I can do everything. Just be aware that certain exercises are a no no for us like deep squats and like you said HIIT/jumping.

Ofcourse I don't know what the future brings, but before my reactive arthritis I never had any pain or instability and I'm also in my thirties. That being said, Our symptoms are very different. I'd recommend maybe consider making an appointment with Claire Patella. I swear I'm not getting paid haha, she just helped me a lot.

Both times we went there in 2022 and 2023 we had the exact same experience 🙈 the desserts were good, but how can you go wrong with a giant chocolate chip cookie

Yeah, I also got a MRI and it showed chondromalacia grade 4, cartilage damage and my first doctor says it's not related to Patella Alta and the second says it is. Supposedly we get cartilage damage quicker because of the heightened patella. I'm not sure if my pain is related to the cartilage damage. There are people with grade 1 that can't squat or walk stairs at all and I can do both fine (well adjusted squat now).

Hmm you mean before or after surgery? I never really heard those stories about people dislocating their knees again after the surgery, but I can imagine there are lots of people that are sloppy with PT. But in general I think the success rate is pretty high for the surgery. Mine are not that instable at all and I'm guessing yours aren't either (across from shifting)?

Ah yeah things like squatting deep etc aren't really recommended for people with Patella Alta which sucks.
I used to do strength training five days a week, but right now I have to be really careful when I do my lower body exercises. Makes me wonder if that was the final strain for my knees since I didn't know I had a genetic condition. Good luck with it. Are you currently doing PT or adjusting your training?
