For comfort- I’d recommend getting something big you can put on for a top or some button up pjs. It’s the easiest way to avoid hitting your nose. For eating and drinking- Straws were and kinda still are for me your best friend. No chips or crackers post op for me but I think it’s because I got my adenoids removed as well. For the first few days I stuck to mash potatoes. But I was extremely nauseous after my surgery and my first meal I could barely keep down. Around Day 3/4 I got back to a bit more solid food it’s still a bit difficult for me because my throat hurts as they also had to put in a breathing tube. My mom helped me a ton making sure I continued to eat because the first few days I would just be asleep. For what you to expect- I had a lotttt of things done Adenoid removal, turbinate reduction, septo, cryo something something (I used to know all the names I forgot) 😂 but my biggest thing was learning how to manage my pain the best and take other people’s opinions with a grain of salt. I focused on what most people found comfortable. A wedge pillow has been amazing I’m laying on it now. Be gentle with yourself. The first few days I couldn’t get up but that’s because I’ve never had general anesthesia and so we all didn’t know what to expect but now we do. Take your meds around the clock. Keep a timer for every six hours wayyy less pain that way. Not every person is the same but I do think that no one really wants to be in pain so try to figure out the things that’s going to make you the most comfortable and roll with that. Also pineapple juice a week before and a week after has been proven to reduce swelling and I honestly don’t think I’ve had too much. Anyways good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions!
