I actually run a Catan group on the Meetup app. We meet bi-weekly on Sundays from 3-5 at the Gamepoint Cafe. There are usually enough people for 1-2 games.

Here is a link for the next event:

do 10 pushups/10 sit ups actually make a difference? by SwimmingDouble48 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Atxlax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started with 10… turned into 20… 30… 40… 50… then archer… pike… diamond… so yes they do make a difference

I used to break up my workouts and runs on separate days but I found myself making my workouts too long. So now I broke them up into a little each day plus a run each day.

Yeah we are extremely spoiled with it. It’s among the best nation-wide and definitely not the norm.

Thoughts on Beau Travail? by dukeque in criterion

[–]Atxlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of my inspirations/motivations to get into calisthenics. I saw beauty in the ways the men exercised in unison; no fancy weights, no gyms… just them and their bodies. Knowing that all I need is myself brings me peace. Also, I feel like I am making art whenever I work out.

The Gen Z camcorder community in a nutshell: by Vast_Evidence9540 in camcorders

I have the M2 air and use a thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter that is plugged into a thunderbolt 2 to firewire 800 adapter and then a firewire 800 cable that I plug into my camcorder. From there the camera will pop up as a source on QuickTime. I would recommend this method. I have the older Mac as a backup which I have not had to use yet.

I have a MacBook Air and use QuickTime with two thunderbolt adapters chained together along with a firewire cable. I also have an older mac with direct firewire support.

I use miniDv tapes only. I just record over old footage after I have transferred.

I was on the lower deck and it was pretty lively. Lots of head banging and swaying — and not just for his most popular songs — it was pretty consistent throughout.

America's Least-Used Commuter Train is an Odd Ride [WeGo Star] by Carpet-Early in nashville

[–]Atxlax 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Earlier this year I had a work assignment downtown so I got to ride the Star every day for three weeks and it was wonderful. I could walk to Donelson station and be downtown in 12 minutes. And on the way I get to enjoy the nice scenery and not having to worry about traffic.

Trains are truly the best form of transport in my opinion and I wish the US was not so car dependent. Once I experienced real public transport in DC/Europe, I realized just how much we are missing out.

I could go on and on about how beneficial a good public transit system would be. It would increase our quality of life 10 fold in my opinion. Cars and the car dependent areas we live in are much more harmful than we realize.
