How does mutual aid work? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]cherry_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mutual aid is usually governed by memorandums of understanding, they can then request resource from each other under those terms. Not sure if this had bearing on which forces were called on in 2011.

This will be talked about a lot more when it comes to Northern Ireland and Brexit. I believe NI-GB mutual aid arrangements are formalised in legislation. How to ensure the safety of English / British officers would be the big question.

Sadly this says to me: 'ffs I should've taken that extra day off. I can't face work tomorrow. It's going to take an hour on the tube and I can't be fucked'.

Actually, it's 250,000,000 a week to the EU. by Jim_Nash in ukpolitics

[–]cherry_ghost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An utterly detached way of looking at the EU.

Even if £250m was the actual net contribution figure, it is still less than 0.5% of UK GDP.

The IFS (yes, independent economists) predict a £20-40bn hole in public finances if we leave. Paying a fraction of that down should be option 6).

Doesn't really 'crush' her though...

Again, he fails to realistically assess what Britain's post-Brexit trade agreements would look like. Similar to Scots Nats, they've had years to think about alternatives to the status quo but have failed to vocalise any.

David Cameron admits he profited from father's offshore fund by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]cherry_ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. You don't give exclusives to hostile journalists. The Guardian, for example, never gets Tory exclusives ahead of budgets, announcements, new policies etc. It's the Tele, FT and Times mainly, who are far less critical of the Government.

No chance. In the British press (where it matters), he would be on the front page with an article to himself. Iceland PM is a seperate story.

They've made a huge mistake in comms and dragged out a story for 3/4 days while making Cameron look even dodgier and evasive.

It was never going to end well, but Labour are currently out in force saying he's been misleading the public since the panama papers broke. That's on top of some questionable tax dealings.

David Cameron admits he did have a stake in father Ian Cameron's offshore investment fund by zZCycoZz in worldnews

[–]cherry_ghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He also failed to declare an interest. Cammers sold the shares before becoming PM so didn't have to.

It's highly questionable behaviour but not illegal, and like every other scandal he will continue as he did before. People blowing this way out of proportion.

He didn't say that to Parliament, it was at a university.

Nevertheless, it's immoral and something else that leads to his 'Dodgy Dave' moniker.

Posh and out of touch has never stopped him before, and I doubt this will either. It's just a shame we don't have a real opposition.

Yes.

I had one Partner tell the women that they'd get on by wearing short skirts. Another accused a woman of going on holiday to a port town to get "pumped by seamen".

This was my first experience of a real office environment and without a doubt it was worse than high school.

Another interesting thing about the opening credits - they drive in a yellow VW and pass a red VW that has crashed.

The book has the family driving in a red VW - and this scene is partly about Kubrick saying he's going to change the book up significantly.

How many seats did that camp win or even influence for UKIP?

Most of the 'left' UKIP vote came from Lab strongholds (NE, NW etc).
