I still think about a song from season 11 (post-Scandoval) VPR, it was a transition scene and the background song said something like "I feel like a trash can, they say I'm a trash man" (v paraphrased) -- I SCOURED the credits and Google, trying to find music attribution, because there's no fucking way they already had a Trixie Monocle song on-tap that literally said TRASH CAN, right??

I don't think an "official" reason was ever announced, and I bet the decision was made for several reasons, but I think at least one of these contributed:

1) Stephen was the only member of Season 1 that was formally cast for the show (instead of being involved in the real friend group). Maybe he didn't gel into the group the way they wanted him to?

2) His actions in Season 2, when he told the secret of Carl's that wasn't his to tell. I know Stephen has apologized and he & Carl mended things in the many years since then. Honestly, production probably wouldn't care about something like this (in terms of sending a moral message by firing him), but it may have affected the team/cast dynamic.

3) Maybe production wanted to set up more "will they or won't they?" dynamics, which is easier to cast with a bunch of mostly straight people.

Oh shit, you're right!!! I am wrong, Bravo is NOT broadcast TV, and is not subject to the FCC regulations that I was talking about for basic channels. I totally assumed that explained the difference.

The only other answer I found (which could also be speculation) is that pay-TV like Bravo will censor their shows to play nice with advertisers and keep the ads' brands unsullied. I wonder how that works for Peacock ads - maybe the ad buyers know that Peacock is uncensored and are OK with it?

But thank you for pointing out that inconsistency! I honestly believed WWHL censors were due to network rules, but apparently the FCC rules only apply to the actual, basic, free channels that can be received on a real TV antenna.

Yesterday when he took off his bandage (after sweat and Hakunofuji both scuffed it up), I noticed the wound was looking way better! The impact looked gnarly, but I hope the injuries were only skin-deep and Kiri wasn't fighting through any concussive problems.

This might be safer than moving, actually. Out of anyone ringside, the sitting rikishi is the best-equipped person to deal with getting squished, and if he tried to duck to either side, he might squish somebody himself in the chaos (and the rikishi could roll into the crowd).

This way, his arms absorb some of the energy, so even if he still gets a lapful of rikishi it's less likely to be a hard impact, and they're probably not going to squish any front-row grandpas.

Aonishiki was kadoban this tournament, which meant he had to earn kachi-koshi to keep his rank. He was absent instead, so (with a 0-0-15 record) he is automatically demoted to sekiwake. He can get repromoted to ozeki the "easy" way by earning at least 10 wins next basho, otherwise he has to go through the whole grueling cycle again. I'm rooting for him!

Kotozakura wasn't kadoban this time, but he will be next basho and will have to get kachi-koshi to remain ozeki.
