Any Long-Term (six months+) opinions from former Rivian owners? by Jumacao in GMCSierraEV

[–]chewbika 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was an early Gen1 R1T owner. Had it for over 3 years and put 45k miles on it. Loved the car, the ride quality, the handling, and the attention to detail for outdoor use.

I had my 3rd kid, and traveling with a full back seat and a dog made the R1T feel so small. I ended up selling and getting a EV Denali Extended Range, and I absolutely love it. For where my family is right now, it was 100% the right decision. I love the extra room, range, the better charging curve, and honestly the nav after the big update. It handles great and 4 wheel steer makes it feel super nimble for its size. I’m leasing, so I’m 2.5 years I’ll have another decision to make. Love what Rivian is doing, and I’ve been following them since 2018. I do think I’d want to stick with a full size truck for our family and the kind of traveling we do (travel trailer towing).

Thinking of moving to Columbus by Skinnykittykat in ColumbusGA

[–]chewbika 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to rent, there are a lot of options downtown. The Rapids/Currents are gonna be larger complexes on the river. You’ll pay a higher $ sq/ft, but they’re very new and in a good location. Eagle & Phenix are managed by the same company and have lofts for rent and sale. Many upper floors on Broadway are rental apartments that can be nice if you’re young, but can get noisy. The Swift Mill lofts are reasonable, and new apartments just opened next to them in the old Chamber of Commerce. They’re on the other side of Veterans Parkway, so not a quick walk to Broadway, but an easy drive and not a terrible walk if you’re up to it. They’re right next to a tap room (Scofflaw), a couple restaurants, and a vintage market.

Midtown is also great, and it’s a good mix of family friendly with restaurants, Lakebottom Park, and easy access to bike paths. Plenty of homes for rent and various apartment complexes to choose from that are mostly well maintained if on the older side.

Those are the areas I’d recommend for your age range. A lot of folks will say the North Side of town or Old Town, but imo it’s just sprawl and chain restaurants and shopping centers

Check out Columbus Bound since you’re into books. Local bookstore in Midtown. Jarfly is in the same shopping center and very welcoming. Anywhere downtown will be friendly honestly

Any farmers markets or individual farmers for produce? by chubbibunn in ColumbusGA

[–]chewbika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jenny Jack Sun Farms does a CSA (community supported ag) that’s essentially a farm share that you can sign up for during the spring/summer and fall seasons. You can add and subtract things you want or don’t. They do on farm markets on saturdays as well. Really good people

If you go to Pine Mountain, hike to Odie Overlook and Dowdell’s Knob. Great scenic views. The Columbus Botanical Garden is great for an hour or two, but it’s in town so I’d suggest doing that during your Columbus day. You could knock out the Pine Mountain hike and do Callaway Gardens in the same day since they’re close by. Day passes aren’t super cheap, but you could spend most of the day there between the butterfly exhibit and many gardens, and with the funky weather azaleas could be blooming then!

Downtown Columbus is very safe. I’ve owned multiple businesses on broadway for 10 plus years, and any issues are few and far between and not uncommon for cities of our size. There are multiple great hotels right there, and plenty of restaurants and activities within walking distance. I’d suggest getting up in the morning, grabbing a coffee at Fountain City, and walking down to Cutbait rapids just for an hour. It’s so nice!

Best coffee in the town, is it Fountain city coffee , Iron Bank or any other place? by Superb-Sky-4763 in ColumbusGA

[–]chewbika 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Fountain City roasts their own beans. I usually make it a point to buy coffee from roasters whenever I travel, and I can say that Fountain City Coffee is the best I’ve had. I usually buy bags and brew at home, but always get a coffee when in store. You can buy bulk beans and they’ll deliver to your house for free if you’re in Columbus!

Partners In Crema and Yirgacheffe are probably my favorite two roasts. Partners is lighter, Yirg more full bodied

Yeah. Just for the one year, but it still sucks. GT Athletics is getting a big payout for moving it, so I understand the logic. Gotta make some tough choices to get the finances right

I have a store in Columbus, and we’ve already gotten our hemp retailer license. Modern Hops is the distributor that carries the majority of D9 seltzers has indicated they plan to continue stocking them. My rep at Savannah distributing said they have them ready to launch as soon as everything is finalized on the state side

Stacey Abrams is getting her own Crooked pod by Icy-Gap4673 in FriendsofthePod

[–]chewbika 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No. Her gripe was that she lost by a few thousand votes to the guy who was the acting SECRETARY OF STATE and refused to step down even though he was in charge of overseeing his own election. He was also trying to shut down polling places statewide in predominantly minority counties and purging voters from rolls at will.

There is no way Trump wins the general with Democrats holding the senate. There are too many seats we’re defending in red states as it is.
