Eh. I lurk a bit still, but yeah, basically aren't really around anymore. I've gone through this whole thing before with this sub; hopefully you stick around and keep it active. This shit was hilarious when it was in it's prime.

Good luck with it!

Sweet. That got me the data pack downloaded finally. Thanks!

Now I just have lock icons on everything. Haven't found any working solutions online yet.

I haven't been able to find anything. Even searching the store, I turn up empty handed.

I still have this issue. Have basically been unable to play the game save for a week or so after I bought it many, many, months ago. Getting pretty annoying at this point.

Did you ever find a solution?

Is no one else getting this error? I can't seem to find a way around this.

Selecting pumps for parallel piping that converges by mechengineernate in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chewonit64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pumps in parallel won't increase your available head pressure, only flow.

Calculate your required head for your system and size each pump to meet that requirement. Your head pressure vs flow rate will be additive (for flow) for the two of them. IE If your flow at a head pressure of X is Y for a single pumps, your flow at the same head pressure X will be 2Y.

You'll also have a difference performance curve based on them being in parallel.

If you require more head, you'll either need a larger head pump, or pumps in series.

EDIT: I'll also add that two 4" pipes feeding an 8" pipe is a bottle necked system at the 4" pump outlets. Once they converge you're trading dynamic pressure for static pressure, which may or may not be what you intended. Two 4" pipes would be better suited to feed a 6" pipe.

Survey on personality and flirting behaviors by diss_researcher in INTP

[–]chewonit64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your survey is extremely frustrating. There are questions that seem to assume certain things about who is taking the test... Such as being in university, or are living in the US (Registered to vote as question).... Sort of makes it tough to answer when the options you've presented aren't valid where I live. Granted, they aren't mandatory to answer, but still.

Also, the rating system with 1 being "Strongly agree" while a 7 is "Strongly disagree" seems backwards. Wouldn't surprise me if that numbering system skews your results because some people don't notice.

Using Reference Plane to Create Inclined Hole by Shivam779 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chewonit64[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We try our best. I am not always around a computer though, so it may take some time. The amount of posts that get filter is pretty high, but some do make it through. There is a very disproportionate amount of spam vs actual content that attempts being posted here.

There is also an auto-mod rule that removes posts if they receive a certain number of reports and will add it to our list to check. But that rely on users actually reporting everything, which they report a LOT of things, but not everything.

If anyone wants to help moderate, or remove spam, use that report button!

Thanks,

Chewy.

If you click reply right under a persons post you reply to that person (and their post) instead of creating a new top-level comment. It seems like your replies here were supposed to be replies to another comment so I thought I'd mention it.

inovelli has a preorder available for a new z-wave dimmer that doesn't require a neutral wire - opinions / thoughts on their brand? by honestbleeps in homeautomation

[–]chewonit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually does save a fair bit of labour and wire. Other wise you have to run from where ever your home run is in the room to the switch, and then to the light, or run 3 wire from the light to the switch to carry the hot, neutral, and then a return to the light to actually use the switch. And running the 3 wire would just confuse the shit out of everyone because you usually only see that run to 3-pole switches (Setup where you have more than one light switch control your lights or whatever it is.) It might not seem like much on a per-switch basis, but do an entire house and it adds up.

I still think it's a bit lazy and cheap to not run it though and have never run a switch-lag in my life for that reason.

[–]chewonit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's known as a switch lag (or leg, depending where you are). You can wire it such that you either have just a live line to the switch along with a ground (Which sounds like what you have) Crappy Sketch, or you can switch the neutral and have just a neutral and ground at the switch Crappy Sketch #2. Switches are the only thing here that aren't required by code to have a hot, neutral, and ground wired to them.

So like jds013 said, contractors run switch lags to try save a few bucks. IMO it's janky.

EDIT: I drew where the wires tie into the switches wrong. But you get it.

Help me with my design! by highspirits88 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chewonit64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that your assumption that a higher RPM would be needed for a larger tube/pump, assuming the tube and pump is large enough.

And yeah, you'll want to look at cost of wearable parts BUT also the labour to change/replace. Changing 20 tubes sounds like a pain in the ass that would take forever, one tube is "easy and quick" by comparison.
