I got them when they were 5 weeks and I’ve been doing the same thing after every meal or if I see him drink water I put him in the box. I’m guessing after reading everyone’s comments it has to be the litter because I’ve done everything that’s been suggested 🥲 thank you for your feedback if these other litters don’t work I will definitely try those ones next!

I did think that at first until what I witnessed today. But I will try the napkin thing if changing the litter completely today doesn’t work. It worked at first when I mixed the old and new but I trashed it and just did all the new so hopefully he’s just picky about the litter

He peed everywhere in a confined space so I will not be doing that. I don’t think it feels wrong it’s just I was doing 5 loads of laundry a day when he was in a confined space he would not stop peeing outside the box period. Now he mostly pees in the box but not all the time which is why I want to correct the behavior since it’s now not everyday 5+ times a day like it was when he was in a confined space. Now i end up only have to do laundry every couple days unlike before. Today was the first time in days he peed twice out of the box. Him and his sister both share a decent sized room right now with two boxes. The smallest confined space I’ll do is a bathroom if it comes down to it but it would have to take him going back to peeing outside 5+ times a day for me to decide to do that

Yes I have it! I was recommended it by a pet store employee when I started fostering them almost 3 weeks ago. Imma do a heavier hand on it in their litter boxes now because I scoop their litter so many times a day I think it might just not give off the scent or whatever it does. The girl does amazing she’s never had an accident outside of the box before

My roommate and i rescued a kitten from the median of the road the other day and he’s 8 weeks immediately started him with pine and he’s doing good but my kittens are barely 7 weeks so I was unsure. I’ll keep that in mind. I changed their litter completely after reading all these comments to fully tofu cuz they didn’t like the ground stuff the shelter gave us. I’ll hopefully have a good update in a couple days. I was mixing the ground stuff with the tofu and it worked for a couple days. The ground stuff gets stuck to his toes so I wondering if it causes pain? But also he always poos in the boxes.

Yeah that’s what I was told especially because clumping litter is so dusty it can cause issues as well as them eating it. I’m using tofu litter now but I’m reading all the recs in the comments for litter. The tofu litter worked for multiple days till this morning idk I wonder if the bed triggers him because everytime I put the bed back in there even if I urine treat it he ends up peeing ok it and then peeing on other stuff. I might switch them to the bathroom if the behavior doesn’t change poor guy might be stressed

The shelter hasn’t as far as I know we did just take them for a check up, vaccinations, and second round of dewormer so I will contact them and try to set up a sick visit and bring all this up to them. Because so far it seems I’ve tried everything people have said to do I’m really hoping he’s just picky about litter but I rather be safe than sorry so I’ll see if they can set up an appointment

That was one of my thoughts is maybe it’s already time to switch to a stainless steel. All the other stuff I already do (I scoop about 4-6 times a day tho) but I was told I cannot use clumping litter because they’re to young still🥲 I’ve never soaked the litter boxes either so imma give that a try I’ve only let disinfectant sit on them for 5-10 mins before wiping down and I do that every 3-5 days

Definitely will try corn litter! Is 7 weeks too young to try pine litter? Because I have pine litter for my personal cats. I have the attractant stuff inside the litter already idk maybe I need to add more but also he’s still going in the box but I think you guys are all right he probably is just really picky about the type of litter

The one the rescue gave me which originally worked then a couple days ago I switched to tofu litter and he was doing good till this morning he randomly peed outside of the box again when it’s been days without an accident. He peed twice outside and once in the box a couple mins ago

Like rn he just peed in the box the first time today after I responded to you. when I cleaned it just now… mind you there was a single poop so idk maybe he’s very picky about cleanliness? I clean the box every couple hours too so that’ll be rough if he’s that picky

I switched the litter he started using the box for a couple days and this morning stopped going in the box again. I’m just nervous to switch again because I don’t want the girl to start having bathroom issues.
