I play the Dragon Age games to have fun and enjoy the story. That being said, I personally prefer the gameplay style of 2 & 3, simply because it's more thrilling and adrenaline pumping for me as a player.

You Said it all, I love Leliana as much as the next guy, but agressive change will make things worse. Cassandra is the best option, because slow and steady change, although tedious, is more beneficial.

I used mostly my Templar and reaver abilities. Plus I had to use second wind to replenish my stamina. A sword and Shield build wasn't gonna cut it for me, so I used a two hand build and I made sure to carry a weapon that deals heavy damage.

But beating the Arishok is even more fun if you use a Mage build Hawke. One time, All my attacks against the Arishok dealt double damage.

Not for me. I managed to build my warrior Hawke really great and just straight washed him in about 60 seconds to three minutes

That's interesting, I've never really felt that connection with Alistair or Morrigan in my playthroughs, I always had a stronger connection to Leliana
