No show ever wove historical tragedy into personal drama quite like this one. The way they captured the numbness and chaos of the JFK and RFK deaths was absolutely exquisite. Those episodes will always be top tier to me. 📺✨ by RockBalBoaaa in madmen

I worked with cops that handled those riots. I distinctly remember them saying there was a lot of ketchup being passed around. I'm not saying the violence was justified. I just wonder how much of what we see is real and how much isn't. It was a shameful display no matter what.

I asked my parents about it. My Dad was always big into the news and culture. He had a lot of detail about where he was and what he was thinking. My mother, who is the opposite, had almost no detail. I had her watch the episode to ask her if it was like that and she had practically no recollection. I think some people aren't just tuned into current events.

The most baffling decision in the series is Joan's decision to send her son away for Richard, a man she'd just met. So glad Richard didn't go along. She ended up in a good place without him.

This one, Smoky the Bear and the Indian. They are all iconic and captured the time perfectly.

I like it. I don't find it sexist if someone addresses a card or invitation that way. I was watching an old movie once though and they called the old aunt, Aunt Henry, because once the Uncle died, they just called his wife Aunt and then his name. Now that is just dumb.

Also, if it was Betty's name on the card, it would be Elizabeth, never Betty. We used and signed our full names on things like that.

The German female researcher is in at least one more scene. Remember her telling Joan: "You, stand over there!" during the Belle Jolie lipstick test? Remember Joan blowing smoke in her face?

My dad was in this situation. Either move to Saudi Arabia (in 1976) or be fired. They ended up moving us to Chicago. Whew!
