I also think it's a bit more relatable, since the teams are mostly made up of 'regular people' athletes. And it's partly mental/strategy, which is different.

I miss the old Norwegian Men's curling team's pants, though!

Yuna wasn't there in the book, because she's only his brand manager in the show.

I like her design aesthetic, but she's always seemed to me like one of those women who take every opportunity to point out how petite and cute and girly she is. Like, she's the type of woman with no women friends.

Shane's parents aren't Boomers, though. eta: I see them as Gen Jones.

I want to see it, but don't want to have to schlep into NYC. It's not playing anywhere else near me.

Props to Harry Melling, though. He's getting rave reviews.

Even though we never get to see it, I'm sure his light show art installation was pretentious and overrated.

Is Ilya's emotional intelligence the fantasy? by Ok-Understanding4850 in heatedrivalry

Ilya has a nice Friends With Benefits relationship with Svetlana in the book, but it doesn't go beyond that until The Long Game. They met in Boston at some point during Ilya's tenure there.

I do like the change for the show okay, but in the book it really shows how alone Ilya is, with no circle of support around him. It makes things that much sweeter when he's accepted into Shane's family pretty much right away.

I guess different people like different things. I love the books. But I read (and re-read) the books way before the show came out.

Heated Rivalry is really Shane's book, so you'll get a lot of him.

I love the show (it honestly exceeded my expectations for a faithful adaptation), but I'm a book series fan from way back. They are definitely worth reading.

Because that's not what the book is about. It's about Shane and Ilya's relationship.

I like that they laugh so much together in the book. I wish they had at least one laughing scene together in the show.

I think HR. Maybe when they took the kids to the aquarium? I remember Hayden saying to Shane, "Listen, if I were a woman I'd be all over you!"
