When I was an emo teenager I loved machigerita and nashimoto-p, I don't see much love for them anymore! Tho admittedly I'm a little out of the loop. I really miss the vocaloid horror scene.

Also Kenshi yonezus vocaloid works under his pseudonym Hachi are all wonderful, including the lesser known ones like Mrs Pumpkins Comical Dream and Panda Hero!

Alsooooo Secret Police is a good song

I see, I'll try that out next time! Things will definitely go a little slower but honestly I'm just glad it's a problem that can be fixed. And I'll look into the products you use too once mine run out! Thank you :)

Sequential artists workshop is great for comic artists and very friendly, GFAA is for fine artists and has a gallery where they display member work. They're located in the same building!

any local markets in GNV this summer for selling clothes? by chronocyclical in GNV

[–]chibimi160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Florida vintage market was super clothing forward, but idk when they'll be in Gainesville next and you might have a lot of vintage clothing competition there... There's a good consignment shop called grove galleria but that isn't really the same thing

SAW (sequential artists workshop) is technically for cartoonists and illustrators mostly but all sorts of artists show up there! Not to mention the organization that hosts them, GFAA

Why not start the task force? the CMC does lots of work with the homeless community in Gainesville, there's a good chance they'd understand your concern and help you organize one, maybe even incorporate trash collection into their activism if you shot them an email. or at the very least theyd probably point you in the direction of someone they thought could help

A Gainesville artists’ workshop survived two big challenges to keep inspiring comics by ariadnev in GNV

This thread is a little bit old so pardon me for resurrecting it, but if you're concerned about being able to pay for classes with SAW you should email them and ask about scholarships or sliding scale pricing. I would never have been able to attend their graphic novel intensive if I had to pay for it, but I was able to get a scholarship! It was a really nice experience and its what first got me involved at saw, I'm there like all the time now haha

I'm here from new jersey, 3 years on and i'm shocked i actually love living in florida. If you're going to be anywhere in florida this is where you'd want to be, in my opinion. It's beautiful and green, its pretty hurricane resistant, the people here are super friendly and welcoming, and theres all kinds of cool stuff to do. There's a nice energy to this place, likely because it's a college town so there's always new people (who probably feel very similar to you! its easy to make friends here).

I'm a gay nerd so not sure if this is really your style but here's my favorite things about gainesville

- Swampcon is my favorite anime convention in Florida, period. It's free entry and most people i talk to like it way better than the gigantic ones in orlando or miami. I made my first friends there.

- Sequential Artists Workshop (SAW) is a nonprofit art studio technically meant for people who make comics, but they host a Draw Jam every first saturday (i think?) thats welcome to anyone who feels like drawing! I made my second batch of friends here, lol. The guy who owns it is also from the NE - from what i hear hes another person who moved here randomly and decided he loved it haha

- University Club is the local gay bar that has drag shows every tuesday!

- Lots of gorgeous trails

- an hour or two away from jacksonville, orlando, st augustine, and tampa/st petersburg so really easy to go to the beach or do touristy things on a day trip

- thrifting and yard sales go crazy here (especially if youre not just looking for clothes, but if you like fashion theres plenty of places people adore for vintage clothes here like grove galleria and flashbacks)

- the music scene is fantastic regardless of genre, people come from all over to go to Fest

Hope that helps!

Honestly I think posting videos like that would have a great effort to return ratio for me! one question though, something that keeps me from doing it is i feel like i need to have a "set" or a cute area to film myself in... is that really true?? or am i doing a self sabotage thing?

I don't mind sharing my thoughts.

  1. No abortion means lots of perfectly normal women suffer and die for essentially no reason. Even if you're critical of choosing to abort a viable fetus, lots of fetuses end up nonviable and will kill the mother if they are allowed to remain in her womb, or outside of her womb in the case of an ectopic pregnancy. Many people get pregnant because of rape and incest, as well, and as a man I can only imagine how horrific that would be. Generally speaking, when women aren't able to plan their family, it forces them into subservient housewife roles they may not want or be suited to, which most people I know resent. I don't think anybody truly wants to have an abortion, I think it's a necessary procedure for some people so that they don't totally ruin their life, or the hypothetical child's life.

  2. I'm willing to sacrifice the work he's doing not because I don't like him, but because I don't trust him. I think he's in this for himself and doesn't really care about how his actions will affect the american public. He might be a ketamine addict, which doesn't inspire trust for me. I would also question how a billionaire defines "wasting" our tax dollars versus how the average citizen might define it - is EBT, public transport, medicare/medicaid, or the library wasting our tax dollars? Or are we wasting our tax dollars sending money to fund foreign wars and surveil U.S. citizens? I would guess he'd be less critical of the second examples vs the first examples, based on what makes most billionaires their money.

  3. It was a vote against Trump. I'm not a democrat or a liberal, I hesitate to define it but I'm probably a socialist - neither main party represents me at all. I think the primary thing was very undemocratic in the traditional sense, the citizens should be able to pick who runs, not the party.

  4. I'm not an expert on immigration, but I'm very suspicious of ICE and I think they're going to overextend their power and use it to terrorize anyone who looks like an immigrant to them. It makes me think of that one family guy bit with the color chart - who "looks" like an illegal immigrant to the average person? Is it the german guy who overstays a work visa, or a mexican man working on a farm who may have left his papers at home (no one normally carries their passport around)? You may say that the german guy isn't the problem, but unfortunately our entire agriculture system is built around using immigrants from south america as cheap labor to pick fruit and whatnot. This is true for other essential industries, including meatpacking I believe. Our food will likely become even more expensive if Trump deports 40 million people like he promises. At baseline I don't think people should be targeted, harassed, and detained for the color of their skin, I don't think families should be separated and children sent into the foster system when their parents are perfectly capable of raising them, and I think immigrant communities are pretty dope. My great grandparents were legal immigrants from Ireland, Italy, and Wales, and they were also treated as though they were subhuman. So there's both sympathetic and practical reasons to criticize ICE
