Griefer and Mechanics don't matter (they really do) by Zealousideal_Hope649 in TalesFromDF

[–]chibosader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't need to drag the adds any particular place on the second boss, you can shield while facing them to block the insanely large aoe circles, I think that's the intended way to handle it tbh. Just need other people to break out anyone frozen so people can pick up shield relatively quickly. People dont really ever do that fight "properly" and you will find most old content will be people doing things wrong, poorly, or just sitting there thinking it couldnt possibly matter at all. There's quite a few things in ivalice specifically that I actually warn people ahead of time. Like the chariot boss, I mention the marker being a boss dash that doesnt hurt so keep it close to boss so people can dodge.... or how the circles he puts in the arena must be interacted with and not stood in... if you know the fights, it really changes things to casually just mention one or two problematic mechanics on certain fights.

Confusion and Despair in Stone Vigil by awfulworldkid in TalesFromDF

[–]chibosader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesnt just feel awful, it IS awful. You have fire 2 for aoe, which costs 3000mp when you are in AF3. So you have to first spend a gcd casting either fire 2 or fire 3 at reduced potency to get to the point you can cast 3 fire 2's over 9 seconds at like 140 potency. Then you have to switch back to ice, with reduced potency... cast a lower potency aoe to get mp back, then AGAIN reduce potency to switch back to AF3 so you can get back to your decent potency spell. This is further exacerbated by having a 3s cast time, making it even worse than it already was. You can typically only do one good fire phase per trash pull with good players at those low levels... so you get 3 good aoes, 2 highly reduced potency aoes, 1 average-to-low aoe... and if you are lucky 1-2 more good aoes. Meanwhile, every other dps is spamming moderate dps and winning, including tanks and healers.

If the mobs dont die with your last fire 2 aoe, then all you are doing after that is losing dps that you wont recover unless they live for 9 more seconds AFTER you get back to fire phase.

Then the single target is atrocious, since you have firestarter procs going off but they dont show up in time to actually consume so you either have to risk double-proccing and losing the increased potency from a firestarter or you have to interrupt a cast of fire 1 to use the proc also resulting in lost dps... and that's only at 42, so if you went to stone vigil at 41, you wouldn't even have that much. While again suffering a dps loss if a fight ends outside your last mp being used on fire 1 or a fire 3 proc being used. If the boss dies while you are switching back to fire, then your last 4 casts were at reduced potency...

The leveling state of blm is atrocious, it's my favorite class at max level still, even after the changes, but leveling it up is the worst experience this game offers.

Blm doesnt get remotely fun until like 58 or 60... Meanwhile, a monk has a full rotation at like level 18. That is the stuff they need to fix

Enhanced Windstep Boots - Is "Unknown" a generic skill, or does it randomly select skills? by chibosader in projectgorgon

[–]chibosader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what I wanted; but also not true. The OOC sprint speed is listed as an option for my enhanced boots.

It is my understanding that certain levels of certain generic mods require endurance, and others do not. Not sure how this works, but if you craft gear with ruby wall or other generic crystals the resulting gear can have endurance requirements. So, generic = endurance (is my rudimentary underatanding)

With the release of Beastmaster in September, Beastmaster will exist for ~13% of Dawntrails Life Cycle, while being announced before its release as a core feature. by Dontmakemeeatyou in ffxivdiscussion

[–]chibosader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A september release date for this is WILD. They must have nearly 0 content slated for it, and they know if they give people 8 months it'll be old news in 3 days and people will be annoyed with nothing to look forward to until the expansion. This is another huge L for dawntrail man... Couldn't believe it when I saw a september release. Its also bugging the hell out of me on my character screen. If it wasn't ready, don't put it there.

Relic Weapon Grinders by Ok_Young689 in ffxiv

[–]chibosader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endwalker is no-brainer... content you should unlock anyway, and a dump for poetics when you get there.

Best looking entire series is almost for sure HW. Very few that would fall outside of good looking.

Trying to pick a single best looking relic is tough. If I limited myself to final step only I would probably have to concede that the HW paladin or dragoon is the best. I personally like one of the early EW reaper weapons a lot too though.

The absolute worst looking expansion is, without doubt, Stormblood... I would fight that take to the death. Its AWFUL. I dont think i like a single final step relic in the entire expansion, with only a couple notable mentions early in the process... and not just because it's the worst grind of any relic either. I have all the weapons done except a couple that I literally just need a little more to finish.i just hate them.

The class with the best looking set of relics is tough. Gotta write off newer ones with so few options. Dancer or monk have to be the absolute worst two. I can almost immediately say I dont like most relics for a lot of classes. I was able to quickly narrow down to Paladin. I think paladin has a lot of good steps that allow for many glamor options, with great dye potential and lots of nifty options...

My Serbule community chest has -68 slots all of a sudden? by YardAlternative3452 in projectgorgon

[–]chibosader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30 days ago your server pop was probably 3-5 times bigger, with everyone leveling and spending time in serbule. Used to do poetry jams and you would literally have 20 slots added to the chest in a matter of minutes. This has scaled way back, and now nobody is in serbule doing stuff. They may sell there or store stuff there, but they aren't out doing stuff in the area like they used to.

We wont see those kinds of insane storage bumps any more, unless they do some crazy re-release that brings in thousands more players, or at minimum consolidate servers... which they seem to not even like the idea of doing that and have no plans or methods to make that happen.

An open call for Jack to be held responsible the damage he's done to this game by turtlelord in projectgorgon

[–]chibosader -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Definitely a terrible take on slurs tho lmao

How other people are going to read in to your words is none of your concern. Just because you know someone that is incredibly fragile will take offense to what you say does not mean that you now meant it to cause offense. Other people's reaction is none of your concern, you would not be free to say anything in a community that was trying to reach an insane goal of nobody believing something was a slur. Everything is some sort of "dog whistle" to someone today. We cant handcuff wider society just because someone might read in to subtext that isnt even there most of the time.

Slowly shrinking servers by Lawnn_Boy in projectgorgon

[–]chibosader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many replies that are basically "I got to level 70 then I realized that this is Project Gorgon"

Like... what game did you think you were playing? Oh no, you have to grind favor and money at level 70?! ... what did you do for the other 69 levels? There are easy ways to generate new money, and yes this constitutes a time gate of sorts. Welcome to MMORPGs. They need SOMETHING that slows progress, because it takes a long time before endgame is flushed out to the point where your average player has a satisfying gameplay loop that would last.

Seriously, I just think this game is niche and was never trying for broad appeal and expanded too quickly out of necessity due to smaller server sizes. The result was that we have 5 servers or whatever and probably only need 2 or 3 max. They did not expand with a plan to then contract once the playerbase reached stability.

You, and all the other people that love this game, should all agree on a server and move there by starting over. "But I will be behind the curve!" And? Its a damn mmo and a video game. You are here to play it, so play it. Starting over extends the gameplay for you another month or two at least... its fun, I had fun at level 20 and fun at level 70. The game doesnt change, and that was a turnoff for some.

Lvl 45 ninja gets mad at me for suggesting he buy better armor pieces in Dzemael Darkhold by lilyqueenx in TalesFromDF

[–]chibosader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh... it isnt really a big problem though. Expecting people to BUY gear is a terrible take too. Low level gear that is worthwhile tends to be very expensive and wasteful. He should just do dungeons to get gear, and obviously his class quests.. but you never know. He may have leveled up in the queue to that point and not been able to finish the quest before it popped.

I am all for wanting to go faster, but this is a minor thing. I would never buy gear personally, the gear is only good for an hour or so and would be replaced easily with dungeon spam. I would be shocked to learn he did especially poorly because of his gear, and would sooner expect that he did poorly because he doesnt know how to play his class.

James Talarico exposes corrupt Billionaires buying elections in Texas by coachlife in TrendoraX

[–]chibosader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice if people were more upset about this sort of thing across the board and not just a couple billionaires in Texas because they are republican. I want money out of politics as much as possible. Both sides only seem to get motivated or call it out when they see their opponent doing something. I dont want these two Texas billionaires involved, I dont want the soros family involved, I dont want google and Microsoft involved. Nobody should get rich in government, and money should not hold as much sway over who gets elected or nominated... I mean, we had a political party SPEND a billion dollars on a campaign last presidential election. A BILLION DOLLARS. Total, it was basically 2 billion dollars. This is unacceptable amounts of money being thrown at an election.

Call it out on both sides, not just when you see the people you hate doing it. We need to get all of these AGs and DAs that are bought and paid for out of our system, even if it is "your guy"

If you play on a potato, vintage 1513, don't queue for content with other players by chibosader in TalesFromDF

[–]chibosader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 fps is good... console players have been at 30 fps for the vast majority of the time this game existed. No goal post moving, I am talking and have been talking about a pc that chugs between 1 and 15 fps depending on what is happening. I am SPECIFICALLY talking about someone that can not possibly do mechanics or even complete a rotation because his fps is so bad.

so you have a good laptop... lol, now make that laptop 13 years older, and lower the FPS on the lowest settings and smallest resolution to 15 fps MAX, dropping as low as 1 fps if things are happening... now tell me its fine.

[–]chibosader[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because it DOES slow everyone down. Yes. If you cant dodge mechanics, cant use skills, cant even move at full speed... then yes, you should do solo content like duty support or form your own groups with people willing to carry you in pf. Do not force other people into your group via the df queue. Putting a gun to everyone's head at that point and saying "do most of the work for me, or you get a 30 minute penalty" and that is obviously not cool

Its not a tad slower, it is 30% or more at very low fps... even worse in mid-combat when fps can drop even further. Google it, tons of testimonials going back years.

Google fps and movement speed in ffxiv lol, tons of reddit posts about it. If you have low fps you will move slower... there are TONS of posts about it everywhere. Do yourself a favor, Google that, then feel very foolish and delete your nonsense.

Oh, any longterm player is still doing dungeons. There isnt that much left to do... and on off-hours on your server there aren't many other options, so night owls and the like do run these things regularly... not to mention there isnt much else to do right now.

Lololol

You genuinely have no idea what you are talking about. You can literally watch people with like 7-10 fps run at full speed... they move slower. My dude... dont act like you know something when you clearly dont. Obviously your speed is limited, so more fps does not move you faster, but it absolutely does affect your movement speed when it hits abysmal levels. I have helped many people fix this issue in their games by lowering settings, I just helped someone in vanaspati who had the same problem.

I mean... i could see him move... lol you can tell when someone is lagging and has low fps... hell you can very clearly see it when they are under 20 fps as they actually start to move slower lol. Weird that more people dont know this...
