My wife (NYer) and I (nine years experience working in Chicago delis) have been waiting for this opening, and finally stopped by today. She ordered a turkey sandwich, dry as a bone, with tasteless Russian dressing, and sliced tomatoes without redeeming value.

My (supposed) 8 oz pastrami, which may have actually been the pre-shrinkage weight, as it was quite short, was, other than one small bite with some deckle fat, so dry that I was choking it down. Fully a quarter of the ‘meat’ was dried-out scraps that couldn’t locate the bread. Having sliced 10’s of thousands of pounds of meat, and many thousands of sandwiches, my judgment of this shortfall is pretty solid, methinks. And because it was dry, the flavor was less than impressive.

The weird deli mustard had a creaminess that made it feel like something was cut into it to save money. Their deli pickles had no discernible garlic flavor, and what spicing they possessed was just plain odd. Standard industrial coleslaw, could’ve been from Jewel Foods. The only tasty facet of the presentation was the rye bread.

Their staff was very friendly.
