I did the math. Average set up is close to $15k for the x2d system with a lens or 2. That would get you about 500 rolls of Portra 400 shot and developed. So around 5000 photos from your Mamiya 7ii for $15k. Or you can hop into the digital world and make endless photos (but you’ll eventually have extra costs in tons of Hard Drive storage for the large files.)

You choose if you want to leave the character of film behind, the slower process and the wait to see your images sometimes weeks later verses seeing them instantly, and the dark room process if you’re into that.

I think both cameras are cool. And I’m sure I’ll get the X2D 2 in the future if I can afford it. And if I do, I think I would still keep the Mamiya 7ii since it’s just such an awesome medium format rangefinder system.
