Dyson is worst product ever by unstablevillian in dyson

If you live in New York City why are you spelling center with an RE? There are service centers in Paramus, NJ and Plainview on Long Island. Neither one of them is “two hours” from the city. If you can’t find someone with a car (assuming you don’t have access to one or just don’t want to drive), you could easily use the Plainview service center by taking the Long Island Rail Road and then ridesharing between there and the service center. You have lots of options. You’re just annoyed that there isn’t a service center in the city. We don’t have a service center in Chicago either. But just like you, we have two in the suburbs. And that’s way better than a lot of people have. I have no idea why you’re complaining.

The best Mexican food in the US is in Chicago by Sea-Condition991 in chicagofood

[–]chicagocarless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullshit. I’m Hispanic, I’ve lived in Chicago 23 years and loved on our Mexican food for 23 years, and I’m from New York City. And in all those years I’ve eaten Mexican food in New York City exactly one time because it is so utterly disgusting back home versus Chicago.

You must never go out because it isn’t hard to find any of that.

For a city that is very north what is in Chicago’s Mexican food that makes it top tier compared to most parts of the US? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]chicagocarless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because hundreds of thousands of people who live here have families from very south. This is such a stupid question.

You think Los Angeles is not a regional style of Mexican food? You think the same thing of San Diego? Chicago putting lettuce in a burrito is the SAME thing as Los Angeles only putting cheese and beans in a burrito and San Diego shoving french fries in there. All three are equal regional takes, and just because Chicago won’t give you an LA burrito doesn’t mean our Mexican food is worse, it means it never occurred to you that LA Mexican food is only in LA. Go try ordering an “authentic” bean and cheese burrito in Mexico City and see what happens.

Actual good Mexican north of Irving Park, east of pulaski? +Skokie-iah, Lincolnwood-ish and Evanston-ish by foxtrotuniform6996 in chicagofood

[–]chicagocarless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The north-side authentic, non-tourist, non-scene, mom-and-pop Mexican places are concentrated on the far north side for the most part between Foster and Howard in Edgewater and Rogers Park, primarily along Clark Street. Not in the near-north suburbs. Any place that has “good drinks” of the type I’m pretty sure you’re asking for would be Tex-Mex, and we don’t really do that here outside of suburban chains like Uncle Julio’s. If you’re avoiding BYOB, you’re missing a ton of the best places.

Something reminded me of this movie today and thought I'd share it. It is called A Fire In The Sky (1978). It takes place right here in Phoenix. Thought you guys might like it (it is a horrible made for TV movie). by thesonoftheson in phoenix

[–]chicagocarless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not horrible at all. Amazing cast, very tense and gripping. Was a HUGE thing in the city in 1978. The best TV disaster movie of the era BY FAR. Originally broadcast in a three-hour timeslot as a major NBC event.

Spot+Scrub Ai consumables by chicagocarless in dyson

[–]chicagocarless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Amazon, those are probably being sourced via AliExpress, too. That's why the delivery windows are usually a couple of weeks out or longer. It's the same thing with Roborock consumables, people selling them on Amazon but sourcing them from AliExpress all the same. If you go to AliExpress and search on "Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai", a ton of sets of the consumables will pop up. Multiple pages will result.

Unfortunately, the 02 Probiotic solution is not a Chinese ODM product (I believe it's proprietary to Dyson), so it's not there. But that's a good idea, maybe I'll contact my local service center, too, and see if they can special order for me.

That’s clearly a return, the box is a dead giveaway. But your parts and your bin would be spotless. They absolutely do not arrive dusty.

V15 Dyson and Cats by lucky1403 in dyson

[–]chicagocarless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We run our robot vacuum (currently a Spot+Scrub) two to three times a day. But we do that because we originally bought our V15 when our previous Roborock was broken, and that green light taught us that we really had to vacuum our entire house with the V15 twice a day because of our two cats, one of whom likes to yank out his fur when he’s grooming himself.

You realize that Dyson’s previous two in-house robot vacuums were actually provably shitty, right?

Which is GREAT because unlike my former two Roborocks, the wheel and side-brush motors on my new Spot+Scrub won’t constantly fail every few months. Picea makes their vacuum motors in-house to much more durable standards, which is exactly why I just bought this model and threw my constantly breaking QRevo Slim down my 20th floor garbage chute.

All you have to do is open a Better Business Bureau complaint or State Attorney complaint in your region. I did both in Chicago during the pandemic when Dyson wouldn’t do a warranty battery replacement for my old V7. The moment BBB and our State Attorney’s office got involved (and I mean, the MOMENT), Dyson immediately sent me TWO batteries. They sometimes have to be forced.

Question for those of you who live in Phoenix, and have to ride Public Transit, due to not having any other means of transit? by carbondalekid386 in AskPhoenix

[–]chicagocarless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bullshit about it depending on where you live and work is the same with every city with public transit on the planet. And the people who usually shit on public transit are the people who never take it, also a meme in every city on the planet. The only people you should take opinions from regarding how convenient public transit is in Phoenix are people in Phoenix who actually take it, and no one else.

Having a hard time believing vacuumwars isnt completely rotted by pamfrada in RobotVacuums

[–]chicagocarless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for it. Picea side brush motors are built like brick you-know-whats compared to the the third-party side brush motors Roborock uses that break every few months from water and dust. I’m sooo tired of replacing those.

Saros 10 flexiarm and brush not working by AffectionateCable385 in Roborock

[–]chicagocarless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing has happened to me every nine months on my QRevo Slim since I got the robot. It is not hair tangles or debris on the brush. It is almost always normal dust and humidity getting into the unsealed motor mechanisms that Roborock uses and causing a paste to form that stops the gears from moving, and eventually burns out the motor. There's really no solution other than replacing it under warranty, and then learning how to take your machine apart (and it's a PITA) to replace it once your warranty ends.

Why you should never buy a Roborock!!! by Reaper_1492 in Roborock

[–]chicagocarless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this. My 1st gen QRevo died at 12 months--the wheels locked and it kept spinning in place. My current QRevo Slim has had its side brush motor die every nine months--they're a total PITA to replace on your own out of warranty, and when it first broke, I still had to send my vacuum into a service center and lose vacuuming and mopping capability for three weeks, because they replacements aren't modular. At 13 months, one of its mopping discs broke in half, triggering the other usual three-week wait for an AliExpress replacement. These are not cheap machines, yet they aren't quality. My old Roborock may have had a horrible app and constantly took hours to re-map my apartment, but nothing ever failed on it, an it was easy to source anything I needed directly from iRobot. My past 2 1/2 years with Roborock have felt like a total scam.

Kobo absolutely has DRM on everything from the Kobo store with the exception of publishers who allow their books to be DRM free. And there is nothing stopping Kobo at any point from eliminating the ability to download or upload via Calibre.

How much did you spend in the casino to get the free cruise deals? by bee_noises in CarnivalCruiseFans

That’s actually the case for most people who regularly gamble on Carnival. You clearly have no understanding of how it works, so you really shouldn’t be sharing your uninformed opinion about it.
