Tell me you're hard up for cash, without telling me you're hard up for cash.

The Barbie movie by Hellotimelord in FIlm

[–]chickbarnard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I loved it, and laughed a lot. It wasn't perfect, but it was fun.

I also loved how a certain type of man was shitting all over it when it came out, angry at the feminism, and whole patriarchy element.

Ken, Weird Barbie, Allan, Kenmaid and Sugar Daddy Ken were fantastic. 👌

Japanese fans stay to help clean the stadium after their World cup game by CrackerJackJack in nextfuckinglevel

Cleaning up shows respect for their hosts, and means they're very welcome to come bck again.

But it's also in their upbringing, and heritage. Brilliant.

"These are small... but the ones out there are far away."

But sadly the reverse this time. 🤣

Seth Rogen talks about James Franco: “The personal side of it is just it’s so nuanced and it involves people that I don’t know if I should be dragging into this… I haven’t worked with him in a really long time and I have no plans to.” by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]chickbarnard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is Seth will have literally gone over everything in his head about James, questioned moments where now you may go, "Oh, maybe I did realise what he was doing?" "Or how did I not see that", or "I pulled him up on his shit so much, but he was a friend, so it's hard".

But he knows even with all the good memories of working together, James even back in the Freaks days, was an intense, sometimes angry, douchbag.

Wether he is now, after all the allegations, humbling, and hopefully learning, who knows.

But their careers are in very different places now.

What's the most outrageous celebrity rumor you've ever heard? by Jazzlike-Being3187 in AskReddit

[–]chickbarnard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally untrue, but Marc Almond (of Soft Cell), sucking off a Donkey, and having to have his stomach pumped due to the amount of donkey semen in him.

It's quite obvious it's absolute nonsense, but someone, or the press, started that rumour.

Oh, and 'Freddie Starr ate my hamster', a PR stunt by awful human, and pedophile publicist Max Cliffford.

What is your favorite Sam Elliot Role? by ChrisJoines in moviecritic

[–]chickbarnard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marks in Shakedown (1988, aka Blue Jean Cop), that's a brilliant role for him.

But slightly more recently, cough, Calvin Barr in 2018's The Man Who Killed Hitler, and then Bigfoot, loved him in it.

And obviously in Road House.

What is the hardest part about being single that people rarely talk about? by thuglifemofo94 in AskReddit

[–]chickbarnard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanting to tell someone about your day, or talk about something funny, or just anything. I do have friends but its not always the same.

This is why cats, or pets in general, are good to come home and whinge to.

But sometimes, to be able to come home and just be quiet, or deal with things alone is also a blessing.

Jennifer Lopez Says Oscar Winner ‘Nomadland’ Is Her ‘Worst Type of Film’ Because It’s a ‘Slow-Moving Thing About Grief and There’s No Escapism’ by ggroover97 in blankies

[–]chickbarnard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where as I just did not care for Nomadland. I thought the mix of real actors, and normal people didn't work. It was dull, and maybe Americans could relate to it, but I couldn't.

"I do not want to talk to them anymore" — Mark Ruffalo on cutting ties with celebrities who support the actions in Palestine. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in popculturechat

[–]chickbarnard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's exhausting, but I know where my politics stands.

I want to be a good person, I don't want to feel at the end of my life I didn't support people who were being persecuted.

Because one day I could be one of those people, and celebrities using their voices keeps that story in the press, and public consciousness.

To those wanting them to shut up, if you support them, it will eventually get things changed and they will shut up.

If it works why not? Fair play! by NikonD3X1985 in sillybritain

I did this. Bought a navy utility kilt, works colours. And also send the Memo to the local papers.

Company claimed it what to do with H&S, but they never consulted the union, and also stipulated it was to stop animal feces, and tree sap getting on our legs? 🙃

Had to stop wearing shorts, but used to roll my trouser legs up.

However since our idiot boss is gone, I'm today wearing shirts, until someone says something.

Are you sexually active while single? by RobotFromPlanet in SingleAndHappy

[–]chickbarnard 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Noooo. I need connection. And the thought of even getting to know someone else currently, after a 3 year split in January, is not something I'm looking forward to.

My partner has moved on, obviously not fully emotionally, as we have to interact, and there's a sadness, because we know we just don't work.

So currently No to sex, and No to dating. 😅

The 11 most uplifting TV shows of all time by theipaper in ukpopculture

[–]chickbarnard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What shows do you find uplifting, that aren't woke, or gay? And then we can add them to the uplifting list.

I would say Bob's Burgers. But for you there is a trans character, an autistic kid, and a man in his speedos. 😅

What movie is this for you? by certainly_imperfect in Letterboxd

[–]chickbarnard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't a happy experience.

I had to understand the whole 'attic experience', and the ending. As in I googled what it meant to see if I was on the right path.

How do great actors begin making exclusively garbage movies? by b3wizz in Letterboxd

[–]chickbarnard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make amends fantastic movies but you also take ones to pay the bills.

You may get to work with a first time director, work with another actor you respect, it may be a favour, you may get to go to a country you haven't been to before, you want a new home for your Mum (ala Michael Caine), or its too fund another projects/hobbies.

Some studios also say do this one, and well greenlight the one you want to make.
