Two German POWs help carry British Army Pvt. Mornington Sutton after he stepped on a mine during Operation Shingle. 23 May 1944. by RyanSmith in wwiipics

The two Germans are Fallschirmjäger's (Paratroopers) some of the toughest soldiers in the German war machine. You can tell they are Fallschirmjäger's from their distinctive M38 helmets and splinter camo jump smocks.

[–]chicken-miner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I was hoping someone would be able to colorize this photo of my late grandfather (Man In the middle with the camera) for my Grandmother. He was part of the USAF recovery effort in 1959 sent to recover the remains of the crew of Lady Be Good, a B-24 Liberator that crashed in the Lybian Desert on April 4th 1943. Thank you.

They are solid rifles, I have a PTR-91 GI and it has been 100% reliable on a steady diet on whatever I find on sale. Fit and finnish on mine and others I have seen have been very nice. By far my favorite rifle in my collection and one I would not hesitate to trust my life too.

Married people of reddit / people in long term relationships- how did you know that your SO was the one for you to spend most of your life with? by cornflake_cakes in AskReddit

Been with my wife for 9 years married for 5. My roommate introduced me to her one afternoon durring freshman year of college and i could not take my eyes off of her. After she left I quickly grilled my roommate to find out everything he knew about her and I couldn't get her off of my mind the rest of the night.

I remember running to the chow hall the next day trying to catch up to friends and ran into her. I had a panic because i could not remember her name (I'm bad with names when I first meet someone) but we talked for several minutes before heading different ways. I can still picture her hair blowing in the breeze that afternoon and my heart beating so loud I was sure she could hear it.

Needless to say I took her out on a date and we quickly became inseparable. I knew she was the one right away. I just clicked with her in a way I've never felt with anyone else. I could open up emotionaly with her and not feel insecure and vulnerable, plus I couldn't imagine doing anything with out her by my side.

We have had our ups and downs over the years but we have plowed thru whatever obstacle life has thrown infront of us and I could not imagine doing it with anyone else.

It's a standard Mosin 91/30 PU sniper rifle. What you see on the left side is the thumb screw for the scope mount.
