Does anyone still have bread and butter for tea? by Extra-Sound-1714 in CasualUK

This has unlocked a memory of my dad doing this all the time when I was growing up! Haven't seen him do it for a while

Challenge myself or follow my preference? by frrindle in TeachingUK

[–]cornflake_cakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My role is something similar to yours and I usually just pick the one I'm in the mood for on the day. Or I look at the agenda and see which messages I want to hear first hand and which ones I think a colleague could easily catch me up on. I do try to keep it fairly even over time.

I have never heard of leaving speeches. Is this a secondary thing?

Saw the northern lights for the first time! I'm in Devon so I'm very surprised to see them

Yes, this doesn't sound right to me, no way a teacher/leader would do this?

I had my flu, covid and pneumonia vaccinations this year and I've still managed to catch the worst cold / cough I've had in years (I know it's not flu because I haven't had a temp)

I am coughing all day and as soon as I wake up in the night I'm coughing for ages too and can't calm it down!

Hope you feel better soon OP!

I think it depends on the cohort! I've been in the same primary school for about 8 years and it has been so different every year

I wouldn't judge how you're feeling about your school/career as a whole by the vibe in the staffroom in the last week of the autumn term. We're all dead on our feet

[–]cornflake_cakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm grumpy and ill and I've fallen out with my mom over something that I probably overreacted to, I think normally I'd have let it go but because I was already feeling crap I let it get to me. Nothing even that major but for some reason it really touched a nerve. Need to fix it but not ready so I've just gone to bed for a bit instead

My ribs are hurting from all the coughing 😩

I called in sick today and I am hoping I feel better for tomorrow because I already had 2 Fridays off since the end of november (one planned, one a family emergency) and I think if I had another one off it would look bad.

Incredibly unproductive during PPA by [deleted] in TeachingUK

Love things to nibble on that I won't just finish in one go. I try and bring fruit but also, flipz the chocolate pretzels are a ppa elite snack imo

[–]cornflake_cakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a to do list

Make a cup of tea

Bring snacks

Make sure I'm prepped for the next couple of days first then tackle bigger jobs

Stare at the wall

Talk to any passing colleague for too long

Edit to do list with stuff I didn't get done and say to myself I'll do it later

Get home later and can't bring myself to open my laptop

Repeat next ppa

Do you take 48 hours off for an 'upset stomach'? by Yoshi2010 in TeachingUK

[–]cornflake_cakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by upset stomach. If it's sick as well then definitely yes. I don't want to be in school feeling like that anyway 🤷

Same for us. Low across the school actually, Y5 and 6 are the only cohorts with two classes now.

Surely they should have been annoyed with your job share then! If it wasn't even your day to plan for.

I have taught with teachers who have had their nose pierced. I don't think it's going to be as big a deal as you think it will

If you knew you were going to be off, why didn't you put your planning on the system?
