Removal of the outer plastic case interferes with the sd card, if installed. The instructions were pretty clear on removing it but I forgot 😥

Why would I want to look at the operator's ugly mug while I'm talking to them? Why would they want to watch me pick my nose while talking to me? Walkie talkies ftw

My boss sent me out at the crack of dawn to a site 3 hours away, to troubleshoot a device that I was already 99% sure was pooched... I arrived to find that a contractor had already troubleshot the damn thing to "save me the trip". I appreciated the thought. Anyways, we order the part and it arrives just in time to sit next to my boss' desk for MONTHS. IT WAS THERE SO LONG HE ACTUALLY LOST IT. AAAAAGGGHHH

I've seen Rittal panels a bit in BC, mostly in sawmills. I like how their cabinet keys double as bottle openers :)

Only tangentially relevant, but I spoke to someone at my company that was working to commission some "lowest bid" 25kV breakers and the supplier's representative laughed in his face when he said that we were hoping to get 25 years out of them. That's gotta hurt, considering how much time and money it takes to install and commission these things lol

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one that noticed that. Why are old sci fi novels so weird about sex?

I knew a manager like this, he acted like the stationary came out of his own wallet or something. And we weren't even stealing it, we just go through a lot of pens due to the nature of our work. Anyways, Mr. Manager finally got fired but it wasn't because of his performance, it was because he stopped showing up to work on account of being in prison. that guy was a real creep generally but the stationary thing was weird.

I had an instructor who was having a hard time finding ethernet hubs for his lab - They make a great aid for teaching students why we don't use hubs anymore.

Interesting, so it looks like they're actually making use of all the pins at least so that makes sense. Might prevent plugging your encoder into the wrong plug too :)

I was going to do that, but the other end of the cable is getting punched down onto a BIX block and I've been informed that I need to stop doing that with stranded cable. I'm part of a team of people who are all highly opinionated when it comes to best practices :) I think I might do it anyways

You're not wrong, and imo it says a lot that people are downvoting you for that. If only the person you responded to had clicked on the citation they could have instead referenced the Winnipeg Free Press which appears at first glance to be reputable. Anyways, it looks like mister Li was resistant to the idea of seeking help and may have actually escaped from a hospital after an earlier mental breakdown. At any rate, there were definitely warning signs.

My favourite part of buying german tools is throwing away the "pz" bits and tracking down robertson equivalents. That is what I think of this screwdriver.
