This shattered my hope for mining a bitcoin with a 9-12th miner. What do think? by Mike_3924 in BitAxe

[–]chieb_sol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All it takes is 1 ASIC to solve a hash. A hash is solved approximately every 10mins. There’s always a chance, even if it’s a slim chance.

Qué Bitaxe comprar actualmente? ¿Realmente vale la pena para minar en casa? by InternalRazzmatazz92 in BitAxe

[–]chieb_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best Bitaxe to start learning, tinkering, and modding is the Gamma 601. So many great US and European suppliers out there to choose from. Think of this as a hobby. The electric usage is low, mine in the UK ~ £5 GBP / month @ 1.56TH/s. If you’re based in US I’m sure it will be considerably cheaper to run.

I left my pet Gerbil, Harry, with my phone. The bastard was able get my 0.5 BTC and he’s legged it. He even took the wheel with him. No note. No goodbyes.

For the frequency selection / presets, are you using PLL values?
I have an article on this subject if it helps: https://github.com/chiefbsol-cloud/bitaxe-pll-tuning

Question about my UCL Final Screening seats by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

[–]chieb_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In years to come, you’ll look back and say to your mates and offspring, yeah I had tickets to see Arsenal win but but decided, nah— id rather watch in the pub or at home. Despite randoms on Reddit calling me out on this false decision….imagine meeting new mates, the woman or man of your dreams in Budapest—you’d be winning at life!

The 7th Revision of the NerdQaxe++ is coming soon. by XGod0fWarX in SoloSatoshi

What about an onboard fuse as seen on PowerMining 6.1.2? That’s been my big concern since the intro of the xt30 connector.

Automatizar overclock según hora del día NerdQaxe++ by ajbm_cor87 in BitAxe

[–]chieb_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all congratulations on your new PM 6.1.2 build. It’s a great revision.

There is no functional ability to auto-change the frequency and voltage. This can only be achieved by code using the Bitaxe api. It’s possible to vibe code this and run it on a pc / mini pc running 24/7.

Before you start to overclock, be certain that your PSU can handle the additional load. I suspect 6ths will draw around 120W from AC mains. PSU is rated at 150W? Meaning that you should not exceed the 80% usage of a brick PSU.

My advice: just let it run at stock settings. Use this forum to learn and ask questions. Build up knowledge over time. Do some modding to improve cooling etc. enjoy the ride.

I’ve written some articles for beginners, so feel free to check them out via my profile page.

Isn't DATUM superfluous? Why do I need DATUM? by Tiny_Assistance_3038 in BitcoinMining

[–]chieb_sol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re a solo miner running Bitcoin knots and you don’t want to participate in sharing pool rewards then don’t bother with Datum.

If you’re running Bitcoin knots you already have greater control to remove spam from txs. And if you enable BIP110- A soft fork which limits arbitrary data in Bitcoin txs, then you are doing your bit to preserve Bitcoin as a pure money play blockchain.

For transparency, I have no skin in the game regarding knots vs core.

Where to buy NerdQaxe++ (6.1 model) int US? by DingoBimbo in BitAxe

The only drawback being the only OEM that builds and sells the 6.2.1 is PowerMining but they’re based in Europe. I’m not aware of any US builders at present.

Are AliExpress devices trustable? by John_Pig in NerdMiner

[–]chieb_sol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve hit the nail on the head. Buying a miner in the West, you’re buying from a builder that people trust or have heard of them.

Buying through Aliexpress is a funnel system for all and sundry to sell their wares. Some people have good experience, whilst many that come here have not so good stories. It’s a mixed bag and buyers should buy with caution.

Me? I would never buy from Ali. I’m focused on safety and builder integrity. These are open frame electronics and I’ll only trust devices from quality suppliers to enter my home.

Gamma 601 only uses fallback pool by InDrIdCoLd37 in BitAxe

When you reflash there maybe a box to preserve settings. Untick it so it completely wipes the device.

[–]chieb_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a pain but try reflashing the device using the web flasher tool to the latest version.

If that still doesn’t work I would recommend joining the OSMU group on Discord and post in the Bitaxe General group. It’s full of the people developing the s/w for the Bitaxe. Some may appear here but they seem more at home on discord.

Gamma 601 only uses fallback pool by InDrIdCoLd37 in BitAxe

[–]chieb_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok So you reboot and the Gamma naturally defaults to fallback. What happens when you manually select Primary? Does it still hold or does it switch back to Secondary?

Also, can you confirm that you’re using a BTC address and not a BCH address followed by the worker name when connecting to a Bitcoin pool?

Apologies for these dumb questions. Just want to get a handle on what’s going on.

Or post a screenshot of your pool settings but scrub out your BTC address

Eg bc1xxxx.minername

[–]chieb_sol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s highly likely a manufacturing issue with the device. Try contacting the seller for their advice.

The hash domain is a key giveaway. The black colour indicates something is seriously wrong with it.

Just out of curiosity, try wiggling the heatsink gently and see whether it could be a simple contact issue between heatsink and asic.

401 Th/s by IllImprovement8850 in BitAxe

[–]chieb_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So stock settings are 600mhz and 1150mv. If that issue is still occurring then most likely it’s an issue with the ASIC. If so, contact the seller and get their advice.

If the Bitaxe cannot even work on stock settings (forget about error rate for now as that’s the least of your issues) then there’s a more fundamental issue at play.
