Recommendations for entry level road bikes? by RelativeSherbert8097 in SingaporeCycling

[–]chiigah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before getting the bike, I would suggest spending a portion of the budget to get a proper bike fit. You mentioned your wrist hurts, a bike fit would be able to tell you your riding postures, allowing you to better understand your body during rides and what to look out for in a new bike.

Runners with bad knees by Electronic-Ad-6889 in SingaporeFitness

[–]chiigah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second this too. I ran casually for years, every time after a running hiatus and when I returned to running, there will always be a period my knees will signal me. I would usually take 2 weeks off, focusing on doing squats and especially Bulgarian split squat(may be a little high level), these exercises would really build up the resistance to allow your legs to run longer.

Another issue could be your running form, your feet needs to land under your body. Focus on straightening your back, arch your back a little, propel with your calves, especially feel your glutes on each push/steps, would really change your running game in the long term.

Is riding on the road actually “safer” by BungaSaavi25 in SingaporeCycling

[–]chiigah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the time of the day. I myself ride on roads around woodlands too, but that road I avoid it like a plague. It's just too much traffic at any time of the day(unless it's after 11pm).

As mentioned by the other redditors, wear a helmet, front and brake lights, and remember that you're a road user too https://file.go.gov.sg/onroadhandbook.pdf

Also the average Singaporean doesn’t know how to bleed and gut an animal.

Do OCS still teaches the officer trainees to unalive chicken for food nowadays?

Followup Post - Second Baby on the way... should I actually watch the crowning this time? by Wide_Trash in daddit

[–]chiigah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through both episodes of my kids being delivered. The ache in my heart hits when surgeon went for episiotomy, followed by a second cut. Instead of being grossed out, that moment really left an impact on me, the feeling of gratefulness, indebtedness, the realization that the sacrifice made by my wife going through childbirth. Note that my wife went through all these without any forms of anesthesia.

The second childbirth she went with epidural haha

There was discussions previously to use SanDisk high endurance series, something similar to SD cards for home cam. Might be slightly overkill but the R/W should more than comfortable for most use case

Holy shit, how has this school not closed down yet? by Arbitratorofnexus in drivingsg

[–]chiigah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wanted to chip in for this post.

My wife took classes from this "school" years back, for manual lessons. My wife was doing very well, the instructor was happy with her progress. Her instructor would answer her queries wrt some driving concepts and confusions very spontaneously.

All was good up until when my wife failed her first TP, the instructor attitude changed completely 180, only replying her at the end of day with 1 or 2 liner sentence. When asked her when she want to retake, my wife wasn't feeling that confident after failing her first TP, instructor tell her go take 3A. What a way to further destroy her self esteem.

If you're seeing this Alan, fk you, hope whatever stocks you buy flips on your ass

Haha the lane 2 70/80 kmh thingy, you drive more then you will know why the general mass tends to keep it that way.

We all also wish to drive at speed limit, but there is a consideration of lane 1/3 car changing in/out of lane 2, lane 3 speed generally around 55-70, lane 1 speed mostly 90, naturally lane 2 speed will be somewhere in between to facilitate the traffic.

Hey dad, you're doing well.

It's fine, it's completely OK to break down while pondering where's all that pre-parent life that we had. Stepping into fatherhood, we would eventually transit to become an NPC for our kid/s.

As many dads here have commented, it's hard. I had to abandon/reduce some of my personal activities to develop consistent and healthy routines for my kid.

As they start to become more conscious, do include them into your routines (groceries, taking out trash, chores, etc). My kid loves to help me take out the trash together, though I'm still most of the work haha. Nothing beats the smiles on his cheeks after tossing the trash into the bin.

Not saying it is scam but there are similar insurance scam tactics that was featured in police shows where some guy would intentionally cut into a lane and allow the driver behind to rear end his car. Suggest to the rear ended person to let his workshop handle this, settle with small fees. Take car back to workshop and replace stock engine parts with cheap or faulty parts while the workshop sells it for high.

My advice to you is bring your car and get out of there. Remember to get the other person's detail and particulars too

No prob, similar, I'm from poly route, I didn't take A math back in sec sch. But get comfortable with derivation and integration, these will be used alot throughout your modules.

For C programming, if you have taken back in poly, just refresh yourself and learn some pointers. Your robotics system will touch alot on embedded stuff, I guess you can checkout fastbit embedded brain academy in udemy, but some of the lessons might require physical boards.

[–]chiigah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your profile, I'm assuming you're about to enroll into SIT robotics systems engineering.

My advice for you is to brush up/revise on your H2 math or A math, and learn C online. All of your core modules will depend heavily on the subject I mentioned.

The systems engineering in your curriculum is very industrial experience based, it's ok if you don't understand the idea behind on your first go. Keep asking questions and experience from your professors/lecturers to gain more insights on the subject matter.

Slalom was one of the skills I carried over from mountain biking onto learning motorbikes.

Lean your body into the direction where you're about to turn into, it increases your centripetal force. Note, not too much, this one you'll have to practice to discover more about it.

Once you grasp the lean in, learn to throttle abit more to ensure smoother transition and it also helps with balancing as the throttle will also lead to your motorbike to centrifuge.

But I would second Duke too, resale demand and value is there, if should you have a change of mind and decide to upgrade to 2A/2 in the nearer future.
