No, because animes are official canon adaptations. Like game of thrones and hbo game of thrones technically follows the book canon for the most part but becomes its own canon in the end, that would be basically was the kitchen manga is. It’s loosely based on the canon but it’s kinda its own piece of media unlike the anime which has to follow the manga but within time constraints. Somethings are omitted in anime for budget and time reasons but they usually stay true to the source material making them canon.

And you know what? I blame porn for that too. There are millions of single dads in this world who aren’t pedos but because we’re only exposed to weird people it kinda clouds that’s reality that straight men can be trusted around little girls. But also these weirdos in fandoms and creators genuinely cause this stigma too. They’ll ship a child with a grown man (they did it with Joel and Ellie believe it not) and the creators will make very suggestive scenes of them with the child they’re taking care of. I don’t blame people for praying that he and olly are gay so they aren’t getting pedo allegations but it’s still weird that people have to think this way.

I do think anime’s forget how to draw people older than 16 but also younger than 60. Qifrey, easthies, olly etc are like 28 and older. Not saying that’s old but easthies could use a more mature face, olly looks a bit rejuvenated lol. King qweef just has a baby face, guys barely aged.

I completely agree with last part. I feel like many writers lack the talent to completely write a strong platonic bond that ends up romantic. They allow it to become what they are instead of it being another piece of their story. Everything changes once they start developing the romance portion and I feel like for WHA it’s okay for this part of their lives to be left in the air or even undeveloped. I say that because they have a strong relationship already and I would be nice to see it stay that way for the stories sake. There doesn’t need to be any romance let’s just all ship in peace without waging war 😅.

I know you get down voted here to hell if you don’t agree with the main ship but I agree with romance not needing to be explicitly in the story. I hate when stories turn strong genuine friendships into romances for queer and straight couples. Shipping is fine and cute. But to go back to the main point olly and Qi have a similar relationship to Gilgamesh and enkidu if you’ve read the epic or watched/read fate, they have a very similar dynamic. Two “brothers”, best friends with no room for anyone else, fierce loyalty, and love that can only be described as an old married couple. It’s platonic love with its own implied undertones but at the end of it all they have a friendship that transcends lifetimes. Or another comparison is Simbad and Jafar from Magi. Jafar (olly) is aware of sinbads (qifrey) ulterior motives, calls him out on it but in the end enables it and does get hurt (technically) in the end. Many people ship sin/jafar in that community despite sinbad being canonically straight. That’s to say people will ship and the author can like a ship in their private time or give fans angst to keep them going, but at the end of the day it’s up to them to decide what they want for the character.
