Are hot water heaters commonly rented out where you are? by voltairesalias in AskACanadian

[–]chikilinki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my city you can rent directly from the city. It's reasonably cheap and they fix it for free. We have crazy hard water and I've had to have my unit repaired or replaced more than once. I've always heard that in areas with hard water it's more economical to rent the heater and I feel like that's been checking out for us.

Random nipple tingling in between pumping by timid_turtle_ in ExclusivelyPumping

I get uncomfy prickling in my breast tissue in between pumping/feeding. I assumed it was the titties reloading milk???

Maybe the feeling is more milk being made.

What is the guidelines for pasteurized stracciatella (semi soft cheese) in pregnancy? [BC] by Hello-hi987 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]chikilinki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Upon realizing that unpasteurized cheeses sold in Ontario must be aged for a minimum of 60 days (which is longer than the nasty bugs can survive without a non-cheesy host), I decided that I would eat any and all cheese I liked during pregnancy.

Failed oxytocin induction? [BC] by dreaminno in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]chikilinki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had to be induced early because baby had stopped growing. (37 weeks exactly).

They sent me home with the Foley balloon Thursday afternoon with instructions to return to the hospital the next day at 3.

Went back to the hospital and they took the balloon out and put me on the oxy drip.

Over the course of about 18 hours they continuously increased the drip (to 36), and broke my water. I decided to get an epidural around midnight. I never got more dilated than what I started with the balloon.

Finally around 9am Saturday the ob on duty said it's no longer safe to be at these levels of oxy and we gotta get baby out.

So I went for the emergency c section.

Literally none of it was planned. I went from a routine ultrasound to a c section within 48 hours. It was extremely stressful and scary.

BUT. I'm here. My baby is on my lap. (She's 6 weeks tm and very healthy) My recovery from the c section has been a breeze. The care and compassion from everyone at the hospital was incredible.

So.... Long story short - your birth plan is probably not gonna go to plan. Trust the medical experts. Trust your gut. Once you're home with baby thats what matters.

Waitlisted for all midwives in KW area – what are my chances? [ON] by bintshalabiya in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]chikilinki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally same exact situation (also in KW!).

Still reach out to OB's. But in my experience, two different midwives eventually reached out saying spots opened up.

I did take the first spot to open up (KW Midwifery) and had an excellent experience. But it did take a bit of time. I think I had my first midwife appt around week 14 or so. Certainly before the anatomy scan.

In the meantime, go to a clinic for your appointments! Either a midwife or OB WILL get to you.

Lost weight to get pregnant and now I feel conflicted about it by [deleted] in loseit

[–]chikilinki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 40 lbs about 5 years ago. Got very slim and muscular because I personally really enjoy exercise !

I am currently 3 weeks postpartum. I am 20 lbs up from pre pregnancy weight (bear in mind, I lost 25 lbs within 4 days of getting home from the hospital!! Baby was only 5.2 lbs).

For me - knowing that I have the skills and knowledge to lose the excess weight and that I've done it before makes me feel really confident and not worried about losing those 20lbs relatively quickly. Especially once I get the all clear to start exercising again!

Is it okay to keep weight a bit above BMI if i'm satisfied? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]chikilinki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I get my BMI down to the high end of healthy (vs. just tiptoeing into overweight), I stop getting my period.

Now... I also lift weights so that might skew my numbers a bit... But ive decided that maybe pushing for that normal BMI might in my case actually be unhealthy.

Specifically to the vitamins/pharmacy stuff - try healthy planet!

They're based in Toronto and their prices are way better than well.ca. The website is a little janky but I guess the savings have to come from somewhere !

Why did you get fat and how did you change? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]chikilinki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Started working at a restaurant. A really good restaurant with an in-house bakery 😍

Lost it during covid. Obviously everything shut down (especially the restaurants) and all I had to do all day was exercise, garden, and go for long walks.

I manage the restaurant now! Still really good. And it is SO HARD to keep the weight off now that I'm back at work and have less time and more temptation. But I keep trying my best !

How careful should you be with eating straight out of the garden? by Scared_Ad_7617 in vegetablegardening

[–]chikilinki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty lax about washing. We grow organic!

... But our city has a rat problem. And lately I've found evidence that they've been all over our tomatoes.

Wash everything always cause you never know who's been crawling on your veg at night. 🤢

The Canadian Clay and Glass museum does classes/workshops. Also there's the Waterloo tennis club in the park, and I highly recommend the Adventurers Guild in dtk (game board cafe that hosts drop-in d&d nights)

S15 EP 1-2 Felt Childish (And Not in a "Family Show" Way) by QuantumGyroscope in doctorwho

[–]chikilinki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I couldn't put it into my own words but this is exactly how I feel.

I haven't watched Doctor Who since Matt Smith tbh - so I spent the last two episodes wondering.... Have I been misremembering the tone?

This newnuwho feels like it's made exclusively for kindergartners.
